Hello Mr. lybrate-user, If it is checked in a glucometer, considering its variability. This sugar level as it is a random checked capillary blood sugar, it is fine. Still if you have not checked your sugar in a while, it is advisable to check both fasting and 2 hours after lunch every 2 months in a good laboratory.

Hello Mr. lybrate-user, Thank you for your query. Diabetes is a chronic disease which, if not controlled can lead to permanent damage to heart, kidneys, eyes, nerves and blood vessels in our body. To control diabetes for your father, he needs to maintain a healthy lifestyle with eating, sleeping and exercise schedule along with medications. As he is already a patient, he might be on some medications. You need to visit a diabetologist with recent sugar reports for better management and sugar control. Follow simple tips such as have small, frequent meal every 3 to 4 hours, avoid deep fried, bakery items or direct sugar in form of juices.

Hello Mr. lybrate-user, For a personalised diet plan as a diabetic, I need your recent blood reports. General diet rules for a patient with diabetes are as follow 1. Have small frequent meal every 3 to 4 hours 2. Do not eat a stomachful at a time. Divide your meals 3. Have a midmorning, mid evening and a bed time snack 4. Add 1 to 2 fruit servings/ milk/ dry fruit servings in a day 5. Avoid mango, chickoo, banana in bulk eating. If you want to have it, have them a small quantity. 6. Avoid rice, potatoes at night/ dinner time 7. If you want to have some sweet, have them mid morning or post lunch. Avoid sweets at dinner time 8. You can have green leafy vegetables, soups, salads, legumes/ pulses in abundance.

Hello Lybrate lybrate-user for your query. To diagnose if you are diabetic or not, we as a diabetologist require one more report along with blood sugar which is HbA1C, also known as last 3 months average sugar. You can get it done in nearby laboratory and contact a diabetologist with these reports.

Hello Ms. Vasantha lybrate-user, if you take any artifical sweetner in very small quantity, it is advisable to use in stead of sugar/ jaggery. As for natural sweetners, you can use dates/ figs pulp for indian sweets such as sheera/ barfis etc.
