I have fasting blood sugar 105 and blood sugar pp is 267 please advise if I am diabetic? recently around 1 month back I have started taking ayurvedic medicine, is this due to this?
Hello lybrate-user. You need to do HbA1C test (last 3 month's average blood sugar) in near by laboratory to identify if you are diabetic or not.
Asked for male, 66 years old from Deoghar
I am 67 years old man having Diabetes last 20 yrs. Taking, medicine regularly as advised by Dibetesolgy. But sugar out of control! Can I take insulin? Which insulin & dose? Present 200 empty stomach & 339 after meal.
Hello Mr. lybrate-user, as I can see, you have uncontrolled type 2 Diabetes since very long time. It is advisable to control your blood sugar levels so that further complications can be avoided. If untreated for long, diabetes invariably damages eyes, kidneys, heart and other important organs. To control your sugar you need to combine both, your dietary habits and exercise along with medications. As for insulin, you need to visit a diabetes specialist to start insulin and up titrate the dose.
Hi. Today I checked my fasting sugar is 99 mg/dl. And yesterday night it was 145 mg/dl. I am pregnant. Can anyone help me how to control gestational diabetes naturally. U don't want to start medication for GD. I read that fenugreek seeds, cinnamon powder and green tea is helpful but you am not sure to consume it in pregnancy. Please guide me.
Hello lybrate-user, Thank you for your query. It is always advisable to keep sugars control for growth of a healthy baby. For us it is just nine months, for the baby inside, it is a whole life we are dealing with, so not taking required medications for sugar control and relying on natural remedies are not advisable medically. Visit your gynecologist and consult a diabetologist for good sugar control.
My mom had 247 blood sugar percentage right now. Please tell me which things she can eat and which things she must avoid.
Hi, Mr. lybrate-user, Thank you for your query. As far as diabetes is concerned, control of sugar depends on few things, diet, food pattern, food timings, exercise, stress and sleep along with medications. For her, 247 is very high. Personalized food / diet chart can be given after detailed examination. She can follow basic rules to control her sugar levels. 1. Have a small frequent meal every 3 to 4 hours. 2. Have less quantity of rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes 3. Avoid direct sugar, jaggery, juices/ cold drinks etc 4. Have fruits in small quantity at least 2 times/ day.
I am having blood sugar level 163 after 1.5 hrs of having dinner (biryani). Was it ok or what are the measures should I want to take?
Hello Mr. lybrate-user, If it is checked in a glucometer, considering its variability. This sugar level as it is a random checked capillary blood sugar, it is fine. Still if you have not checked your sugar in a while, it is advisable to check both fasting and 2 hours after lunch every 2 months in a good laboratory.
Asked for male, 61 years old from Delhi
My father who is 61 years old has diabetes. Today his fasting blood report shown 263 mg. Please suggest.
Hello Mr. lybrate-user, Thank you for your query. Diabetes is a chronic disease which, if not controlled can lead to permanent damage to heart, kidneys, eyes, nerves and blood vessels in our body. To control diabetes for your father, he needs to maintain a healthy lifestyle with eating, sleeping and exercise schedule along with medications. As he is already a patient, he might be on some medications. You need to visit a diabetologist with recent sugar reports for better management and sugar control. Follow simple tips such as have small, frequent meal every 3 to 4 hours, avoid deep fried, bakery items or direct sugar in form of juices.
