Ayurvedic Treatment For Cirrhosis Of The Liver!

Ayurvedic Treatment For Cirrhosis Of The Liver!

Nobody prefers to suffer from ailments such as Cirrhosis of liver. After all, it is difficult for a person, if his or her liver is not functioning properly. However, if in case a person is suffering from such kind of chronic ailment, then one can opt for Ayurvedic remedies, which do not have any side effects.

Why it occurs?
In order to know how it is treated, it is essential to understand what causes cirrhosis of the liver and what it means to have this dreaded condition. While there is a range of causes for the chronic disease, fatty liver disease along with hepatitis B and hepatitis C are the most common causes of Cirrhosis of the liver.

Alcohol consumption on an excessive level also bears its fair share of responsibility. As a matter of fact, Cirrhosis of the liver is caused on account of this sort of alcohol consumption and is responsible for more deaths than any other type.

Detoxifying your liver with Ayurveda
When it comes to the Ayurvedic way to treat this serious issue that is liver Cirrhosis, the main focus is on the complete and effective detoxification of the liver. One of the first things that is involved in this sort of treatment is a radical overhaul of the habits of the person whose quality of life is being seriously impinged on due to this disease.

De-addiction is a very important starting point. After all, it can be said to be only logical, that the treatment of a disease, which has been brought upon by the indulgence in a bad habit begins with the cessation of the habit.

Diet restrictions are also part and parcel of getting liver cirrhosis treated by making use of Ayurveda’s deep and ancient body of knowledge. In many cases, doing so does mean giving up consumption of meat. In addition to this, other things, which are to be done from the point of view of dietary changes include, but are not limited to, avoiding hot and oily food which tends to be heavy on the digestive system of the person who is undergoing treatment. With the body under so much pressure in any case, it makes no sense at all to add more load.

While all this may seem to be very cumbersome, it is to be kept in mind what wonders Ayurveda can accomplish and how does it work in repairing the damaged liver of the patient who is undergoing this course of treatment. The end result makes all the sacrifices worth the effort. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an ayurveda.

Hi, My husband is diabetic, till march 2017 his body weight was 86. Liver function, lipid, kidney function CBC all normal except 7.9 hba1c. His ammonia was 40, He was on Janumet 50/1000, humslog28 units twice. He was eating well, he drinks and smoke regularly. I started him with raw juice of turmeric. Since then his sugar started to come 6.1 hba1c every month. But along with that he has lost weight gradually, lost muscle, sugar is normal 85-120 pp and fasting. He is not eating too well, His ammonia is high 134 for a month but no mental confusion and urea is also low Bun3. 8. But his sonogram shows grade 1 fatty liver, bp is normal. Liver function test are also normal. Pls suggest why his ammonia is high.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. I have gone through the details given. It is difficult to say why level of ammonia has gone up. According to you the blood glucose control is fairly good. HbA1c% is 7.9 % is high. It is not clear what is the present HbA1c%. It does not change every month. It takes over 3 months for that to occur. What is the present weight? The ammonia concentration (earlier mentioned 40 & later 134, no units are given like mcg/dl or mMols/L) Fatty liver is due to diabetes and his drinking habit along with smoking. He should totally refrain from alcohol and smoking, plus control blood glucose levels strictly. Thanks.

I am suffering from Anal fissure from last 3 days. Their is swelling in one side of area from where the stool pass, that is too much pain full I am not able to sleep properly. So I am using pain killer Aceforce sp and antibiotic oneclav 625. A small amount of blood is coming during bowell moment because I am taking creamafinn at night. How to cure it fast?

MBBS
General Physician, Fatehabad
Hi lybrate-user, You need to control your symptoms as well as treat the main cause such as constipation. Here are some home remedies to give you relief: 1. Exercise adequately: Leading an active life is another important step of treating anal fissures. You must exercise moderately for atleast 30 minutes every day. This will help in strengthening the muscles and also avoid constipation. In addition to exercising, you should also practice yoga and deep breathing. Yoga which is especially targetted at the pelvic organs help in maintaining a proper bowel system. Deep breathing and meditation help in reducing stress, which in turn help in solving stomach related problems and constipation. All this helps in curing anal fissures and also prevent re-occurence. 2. Fruits and Vegetables: Eating the proper food is very important to cure anal fissures. A diet consisting of fresh fruits and vegetables should be followed for atleast two weeks after the problem is completely solved. Fruits like oranges, papayas, apples, bananas and guavas should be consumed which aren’t heavy for the stomach to digest and easily pass in stools without causing any trouble. You can also opt to have fresh fruit juice or vegetable juice, as these also help in cleansing the system. 3. Olive Oil: This is useful if you directly apply to the rectum skin. Apply some olive oil to the skin around the anus before passage of stools. This will help soften the stools as they are being excreted and the patient will feel less of pain and no discomfort at all. 4. Warm Water Tub: Use a tub filled with warm water and sit inside for atleast 20 minutes in the morning. This will help in healing the torn skin and tissues. Warm water also helps in relaxing the internal anal sphincter. Repeat this in the evening and night as well. You can also have a warm shower, but this will not help directly. Remember never to separate the buttocks as this will slow the process of healing. 5. Drink Water: Water helps to cleanse the system as well as provide a good functioning capability to the digestive system. Keeping yourself hydrated can help you soften your stools and that won’t cause you any discomfort during passage of stools. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Acidity During Pregnancy - How It Can Be Dealt With?

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), DGO, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Ghaziabad
Acidity During Pregnancy - How It Can Be Dealt With?

If you are experiencing heartburn during pregnancy, it is important for you to know about the ways of dealing with it. Heartburn, which is a fiery, painful sensation, occurs when the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) starts leaking or relaxing. This makes your stomach acids to flow up into the esophagus, resulting in acidity or heartburn. Pregnant women are more susceptible to heartburns because the relaxing hormone slows down the rate of digestion, thereby keeping food in the stomach for longer duration and triggering acidity.

Here are the various measures you should take for dealing with acidity during pregnancy:

  1. Follow regular eating patterns: Overeating triggers heart burns, and hence, you should eat less. During pregnancy, there is much less space in the stomach for it to expand. Maintaining a healthy diet in lesser quantities will help you in eliminating the heartburn throughout your pregnancy. You should eat several small meals a day instead of having two or three large meals. It is easier for your body to digest smaller meals.
  2. Avoid trigger foods: You need to identify the common foods, which trigger your heartburn, and eliminate them from your diet. You should abstain from consuming acidic food items like tomatoes, citrus fruits, fried and spicy food, coffee, carbonated drinks, and alcohol.
  3. Focus on fluids: A liquid diet causes much lesser problems compared to solid food products as they can move through your stomach quickly. You should consume milkshakes, soups, yoghurt, smoothies, puddings, and protein shakes. Try to take liquids, which are rich in protein like dairy products. While having solid foods, ensure that you chew them very well.
  4. Sleep properly: In order to avoid heartburn during the night, you must not eat anything three hours before going to sleep. You should make the head of your bed elevated by placing books or any solid object under the bed’s legs. You should sleep on your left side, which will make it difficult for stomach acids to travel up to your esophagus.
  5. Sit or stand up right after a meal: After taking any meal, you should take a short walk, undertake some housework, or sit down for a while. Avoid lying down, and abstain from doing anything for which you have to bend over.
  6. Wear comfortable clothes: You should wear loose-fitting clothes for dealing with acidity or heartburn during pregnancy. Tight clothing puts extra pressure on your abdomen, which is already crammed. This is capable of worsening acid reflux. Therefore, you should choose loose fitting maternity wear for eliminating acidity and heartburn.

8 Weird Signs You Have Celiac Disease!

MD-General Medicine, D.M, Gastroenterology & Hepatology
Gastroenterologist, Ahmedabad
8 Weird Signs You Have Celiac Disease!

Also called gluten-sensitive enteropathy and celiac sprue, celiac disease is an autoimmune digestive disorder, wherein the consumption of gluten-based foods leads to damage of the tissues that line the small intestine. This hinders the ability of your body to absorb the essential nutrients from the foods you eat.

Causes
Under normal conditions, the immune system of the body offers protection against external intruders. When individuals diagnosed with celiac disease consume gluten-based foods, gluten resistant antibodies are formed by the immune system. This causes them to attack the linings around the intestines, thus causing irritation in the digestive tract and harming the villi (hair-like structures on the covering of the small intestine which absorb nutrients from the food). This impairs the nutrient absorbing capacity of the individual, thus increasing chances of malnourishment.

Symptoms
Celiac disease has symptoms that vary from patient to patient. Some of the common symptoms include:

  1. Digestive problems such as:
  2. Aphthous ulcers which are basically sores occurring in the mouth
  3. Tingling sensation in the legs which are caused by low calcium and nerve damage
  4. Growth issues in children since they cannot absorb the required amount of nutrients
  5. A severe skin rash called dermatitis herpetiformis.
  6. Musculoskeletal problems such as bone and joint pain as well as muscle cramps
  7. Seizures
  8. Irregular menstrual cycles

Other complications associated with celiac disease

  1. Miscarriage or Infertility
  2. Osteoporosis. This is a disease which weakens the bones and causes fractures. It is caused because of a deficiency of Vitamin D and calcium.
  3. Intestinal Cancer
  4. Other birth defects: Such as irregular spinal shape because of the deficiency of certain nutrients, especially folic acid.

Dear sir, fatty Liver is largely a benign condition. Usually it is related to alcohol abuse, or in patients of diabetes, hypertension, obese, high cholesterol either singly or in combination. But you need to be investigated to see for a possible liver damage. Management is largely control of above diseases, dietary changes and exercise. Please show to a hepatologist or Gastroenterologist.

Colon Cancer- Ways That Can Help In Managing It!

M.CH - Surgical Oncology
Oncologist, Visakhapatnam
Colon Cancer- Ways That Can Help In Managing It!

Colon cancer as indicative of the name is cancer primarily affecting the colon or the large intestine. While colon cancer is considered the third most common type of cancer affecting people worldwide, it is also one of the most preventable types of cancer, if diagnosed and treated on time.

Colon cancer does not suddenly turn malignant and life-threatening. In quite a few cases, the tumor appears benign, also known as Adenomatous Polyps. With the passage of time, the adenomatous polyps (some, if not all) progress into colon cancer. In this article, I will emphasize upon the causes and proper management of colon cancer.

What acts as the trigger for colon cancer?

Like most of the other cancer forms, the exact cause of colon cancer is hard to decipher. However, in many cases, gene mutations have been found to play a pivotal role resulting in cancer formation in the colon. The mutations, as expected, is often an inheritable trait that can be passed on to subsequent generations. The following inheritable mutations make a person as well as their immediate family more susceptible to developing colon cancer.

1. FAP or Familial Adenomatous Polyposis is characterized by the formation of many polyps within the lining of the rectum and the large intestine. These polyps though start off as a noncancerous mass of cells have the potential to develop into cancerous cells over a time period. Thus, the condition should be treated at the earliest as people (FAP left unattended) stand a near 100% risk of suffering from colon cancer before reaching 40.

2. Lynch syndrome is another inheritable medical disorder that results from the mutation in the gene that is responsible for DNA mismatch repair. With the gene unavailable for the repair, the DNA undergoes damage with deleterious consequences. Also known as Hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer, the condition often plays a significant role in the development of colon cancer, especially in people below 50 years.

3. Further, an unhealthy diet comprising primarily of high fat and low fiber foods can wreak havoc, with colon cancer being one of the possible consequence. Increased consumption of red meat, processed meat as well as alcohol can also act as a catalyst triggering colon cancer.

4. Obese as well as diabetic patients also stand a higher risk of suffering from colon cancer.

Management and Proper Care

As per reports, colon cancer is one of the least prevented types of cancer worldwide. There can be a myriad of factors responsible for the late detection and treatment. Proper care and management can go a long way to reduce the incidence of colon cancer.

1. If you experience any discomfort (such as weakness, sudden weight loss, repeated stomach upsets, abdominal pain, gas, or diarrhea), consult a doctor at the earliest.

2. People above 40 years and those with a family history of colon cancer should undergo regular health checkups and screenings.

3. Keep a check on your body weight. Drinking and smoking, if at all, should be within limits.

4. Take care of the diet. Avoid eating fatty foods on a regular basis. Consume more dietary fiber.

5. Lead an active and healthy lifestyle. Be involved in any active exercise/sports or at the minimal walking.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!
