Hi, I am pregnant, in my 8th month and I am in USA. Recently I got a dental gum pain, followed by left face pain and now the whole head s paining. I consulted a dentist and a ENT specialist. Dentist says he can see gum irritation but no infection. General physician says no ear infection, no inflammation in the nasal tract.. No swelling in face, no bleeding, no foreign body stuck in between teeth, no caries tooth. Had a gum cleaning to Check for any infection. They gave me anesthesia on one side to do the gum cleaning but the pain in the gum did not subside. But they say things are fine and asked to goggle with salt water alone. But the pain has not subsided so far.

Myofascial pain syndrome is a chronic pain disorder. In myofascial pain syndrome, pressure on sensitive points in your muscles (trigger points) causes pain in seemingly unrelated parts of your body. This is called referred pain. Myofascial pain syndrome typically occurs after a muscle has been contracted repetitively. This can be caused by repetitive motions used in jobs or hobbies or by stress-related muscle tension. While nearly everyone has experienced muscle tension pain, the discomfort associated with myofascial pain syndrome persists or worsens. Treatment options for myofascial pain syndrome include physical therapy and trigger point injections. Pain medications and relaxation techniques also can help.

I am chewing tobacco last 4 years. I am not open mouth. I don't eat spicy food easily. And under my mouth there is bluish colour around it. Please suggest me Thanks.

You should just quit chewing tobacco. Meet an ENT specialist and let that person examine you thoroughly to rule out any extensive damage and to treat whatever harm has already being inflicted. Chewing tobacco is really harmful especially because it is known to cause oral cancer and oral submucous fibrosis (SMF). Since it is an oral habit there are many substitutes that can be used to replace the oral stimulation. Of course, since it is a stimulant you cannot get the same effect and that is worth the loss to give up this very addictive habit. A dense fibrous tissue is deposited in the submucosal layer of the soft palate and cheek, causing disabling symptoms like trismus. It contains betel nuts, tobacco, lime, catechu and permitted spices and flavors. The first four substances damage the sensitive mucosa, causing constant irritation and micro trauma to the mucosa. Chemicals present act as a toxin. The phenol in the betel nut, with its caustic burning effect, destroys the mucosa, causing oral ulcers. The betel nut also contains tannins, which act as astringents, precipitating protein and damaging the mucosa. Altogether, this substance is known to be physiologically addictive. You can use replacements like nicotine chewing gum (if you want the stimulant effect, especially in the beginning) or ordinary chewing gum, hard candy and any other orally satiating substance, especially when the urge is very strong. You would have got conditioned to the habit to different times of the day and different situations. You must particularly avoid those occasions and occupy yourself with something else attractive. You should get regular exercise, eat healthily, and get a good night’s rest every day. Visit a dentist and clean up your teeth and gums to wipe out all the reminders and damages of the habit. You may also get a thorough oral check up and treatment for any damages incurred.

I have toothache which toothpaste I have to you for this problem and make my teeth strong.
Tooth pain occurs when nerve endings of teeths are exposed and irritated. Sensodyne toothpaste will reduce only the sensetivity for temporary period, but if infection is present then antibiotics are needed along with painkiller. Take food rich in calcium and vitamin c.

It is partially broken.
And also I have head ache and eye irritation ...
Take Chamomilla 6C in water (diluted) now. It will be reduced. And whenever you feel such pain in teeth you can have it in water. It will be relieved within 15-20 mins itself. Take care. :)

Do you use your teeth for cracking nuts, removing bottle tops or ripping open packaging? If yes, then stop doing it because  the purpose of our teeth is to chew food. Using them for performing any other supplementary activities may lead to broken or chipped teeth.

My mother aged sixty has toothache in her broken teeth at the end of her jaw. Cold / hot water is creating problem while intake it. She wants her teeth to be removed. Kindly advice?

Get an xray done of the tooth concerned. If she has blood pressure It has to be under control that is not over 150/90. If she has diabetes sugar should be in check pp not over 160. Any other serious ailments like coronary heart disease, cardiovascular diseases, renal / kidney disorder or liver disorders I suggest you get tooth extracted in a hospital with dental set up.Where if they have facilities they can rush you to emergency . A course of antibiotics to be taken 48 hrs prior the extraction.

I had inguinal hernioplasty on my right side four years ago. Now I have started going gym. I sometime feel pain inside like a toothache and sometimes it feels cold like something is draining inside? What could be it, is it due to I am loosing fat? Or internal bleeding or hernia again. I do not feel any bump but I may be wrong? What test can be done to ensure everything is good inside.

Hi lybrate-user, hernnioplasty is a procedure in which surgeon uses a mesh which is placed either under or over the defect in the abdominal wall and held in place by a few sutures. Mesh acts as "scaffolding" for new growth of a patient's own tissue, which eventually incorporates the mesh into the surrounding area. It moves when the patient moves to provide you more comfort. Since there is no bump, you have nothing to worry about. I would suggest not to do any exercises which puts pressure on your groin. If you still want to be sure, you can get an USG lower abdomen done. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Although chewing gum is only for chewing and is not to be swallowed. It usually is not not harmful. It is not digested in stomach thats true bt slowly it moves in digestive tract and is excreted via stools. However in rare cases if bulk amount is ingested in short period it can cause digestive tract obstruction specially in kids. But thats not your case it only one gum in your case so there is no need to worry. Take care that this is not repeated.
