Well I have bad breath so please I want to completely cure so please suggest me what kind of medicine I have to use.

Advanced Aesthetics, BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Hi, there are various reasons of bad breath, like impurities in blood, inefficient digestive system, dry mouth (lack of saliva production), gum disease, cavities, plaque and tartar formation around teeth and gums, kind of diet, improper brushing / cleaning of mouth etc. I would advise you to get a thorough physical and dental examination to rule out the cause of bad breath and to solve it permanently. You can come for a consultation (free of cost) in our clinic.

Im suffering from dental ache Bleeding gums and bad smell when I am brushing its bleeds too much which paste suits me.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
- use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide to keep the area clean. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums. - eat a balanced diet and limit snacking between meals. Carbohydrates and sugars feed dental plaque. - try an oral irrigation device, commonly known as a" water pick, to clear debris from around the gum line. - you may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser.

I have deep bleeding in my gums since two weeks. What should I do. Please help me.

BDS
Dentist, Lucknow
Hello I have read your query. As far as bleeding from gums is concerned is due to deposition of subgingival calculus in gums. Do not be worried so much I will suggest you to consult dentist for oral prophylaxis. Brush you teeth properly twice daily. Use mouthwash regularly. Hope my answer helps you.

I have puss near my wisdom tooth. It was due to not brushing early, I guess. It was paining a lot. When I removed the puss I felt better. But there was puss again. What is it and is it serious?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
First of all there is nothing serious to worry about. It may be because the wisdom teeth usually do not erupt normally like other teeth in most poeple. If it starts giving a problem then people go to a dentist and get the tooth removed and you will be okay. Like you said the improper brushing may have added to the problem and caused an infection. So the dentist will give you tablets to reduce the pus and then remove the tooth soon after, which is the most important part. Or he may assess the situation and remove the tooth immediately if required. But please do not delay much as the infection may spread to other areas in the mouth or do not just take some medcine without consultation as medication is never a permanent solution.

24 years old, My problem is a big gap or space in my upper side two main teeth. How to do closer & which type of process or treatment?

Hello lybrate-user, The Condition you going through is known as Mid-line diastema. When a thickened labial frenum – the tissue band that connects the lips to the upper gum – is the cause of diastema, we often must work in cooperation with an oral surgeon to permanently close the gap. An oral surgeon can perform a frenectomy, which is a procedure to remove a portion of the thickened tissue. This procedure is required because otherwise, the tissue will continue to prevent us from bringing the two front teeth together with orthodontic treatment. Even when methods such as this are used to correct diastema, retention after treatment is paramount to prevent the teeth from gradually drifting apart once more. There was a time when orthodontists recommended wearing retainers for a year or two after completing orthodontic treatment. But these days, we recommend wearing your retainers a few times per week for life to ensure your teeth remain in proper alignment. This is particularly true for lifetime correction of diastema cases.

If it is unbearable pain and you want to secure your tooth then rct is only one option. Otherwise go for extraction. Now a days modern techniques of rct are available. So curing is too much fast.

Hi, I am suffering from severe mouth ulcers. Occurs very frequently. Causes severe pain. I'd like to know home remedies for this doctor. Thank you.

BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Hi lybrate-user, a mouth ulcers is a painful sore inside the mouth, on the tongue, soft palate (the back portion of the roof of your mouth), or inside the cheeks. Sores in your mouth are round, white, or grey in color, with a red edge or border. The condition is usually becomes okay withing 7 days. But if it persists beyond that, or if multiple ulcers keep re-appearing, medical advice must be taken. In severe mouth ulcer attacks, you may also experience fever and physical sluggishness. Taking vitamin b12 supplements along with a suitable gel for pain is the best remedy.

Important Faq's About Dental Implants

MDS
Dentist, Udaipur
Important Faq's About Dental Implants

1. What are dental implants?
Dental implants are a standard for tooth replacement. An implant is a small “support” made of titanium and placed into the jawbone at the point of a missing tooth root. After the implant has attached to the adjacent bone, a replacement tooth is positioned on top of the implant.

2. Do the new teeth look natural?
The new teeth have a natural-like appearance and feel.

3. Am I a suitable candidate for the procedure?
Overall good health and enough jaw bone are the vital requirements. If you are fit for tooth extraction, then you can have an implant. Individuals who have lost teeth due to disease, decay or injury are suitable candidates for the procedure. After taking complete medical history and x-rays it can be decided.

4. How successful is it?
They have been used for over thirty years and have shown high success rates. To ensure that implants last for long, one should practice good oral hygiene.

5. Is the procedure painful?
Anesthesia is administered during the surgery. Your dental implant dentist may prescribe pain medication to ease any discomfort after the surgery. Most patients report minor discomfort when they get home. Many patients feel okay the next day and can return to work.

6. How long does it take?
The time needed relies on the complexity and number of implants. A straightforward and uncomplicated dental implant may take less than 1 hour.

7. Am I allowed to eat after the surgery?
It is advisable to avoid exposing a recent surgical site to food. One is advised to take soft foods and to stay hydrated. We will guide you accordingly.

8. How long does the healing and placing of the implant crown take?
The duration mainly depends on your treatment plan; but mostly takes about two to six months. There are two major stages. At first, the implant should heal before we place the replacement crown.

9. How long will the implants last?
After the fusion of the implant to the bone, it can last for several years if it is well maintained. Many implants have stayed in place for over forty years.

10. Are dental implants costly?
The cost is relative. They are a little more costly than bridgework, but they last for much longer. Thus, more cost effective.

11. Will my insurance cover for the costs?
It depends on the individual plan. Talk to your insurance provider.

12. Can my body reject the implant?
An allergy to titanium is rare, but may occur. At times, the implant does not fuse to the bone during the first time, but on the second trial, it fuses.

What is the difference between Teeth scaling and Teeth Polishing? Also! Give advantages and Disadvantages of both?

BDS
Dentist, Ahmedabad
Teeth cleaning removes the deposits n stains from the tooth surfaces while polishing smoothens the minor irregularities n makes the surface well-polished. Both have only advantages. Some people feel little sensitivity after cleaning which requires no treatment in the most cases. Rest may use a desensitising toothpaste for a few days.
