Sir I am having excess of water in my eyes while driving. Is it a symptom of some disease?

Sir I am having excess of water in my eyes while driving. Is it a symptom of some disease?
Eyes water because , while driving the rate at which the eye dries up increases , hence of rate of secretion of tears also goes up. since we are not driving at a constant speed there is a mismatch between the tear secretion and eyes drying up . our body always tries to over perform. this over secreted tears is too much to handle by the normal tear route from the eyes to the nose. hence the excess tears overflow leading to watering. So it is a normal process.Dont worry about this.Your eyes are normal.

I have an power of -2.5 in both eyes.Having specs. What drop can i used to relief my eyes from my daily eye stresses. I have too use books and pcs very much.

MBBS, DOMS
Ophthalmologist, Hyderabad
Hi, It is not appropriate to prescribe eye drops without actually examining you. However, as a general guideline, you may use sodium hydroxy propyl methylcellulose eye drops, any brand, to keep your eyes refreshed. If not relieved, you shall anyway go to an ophthalmologist for your annual eye checkup.

Red eyes is due to staining on eyes .While watching TV or using mobile for long intervals continuously, eyes get exhausted. While watching TV/Mobile make sure that the lightening in room is proper and you are at least at a distance of 10 Feet from TV to reduce and negate the effects. You can also reduce the intensity of the TV/Mobile screen by attaching a filter or by getting an eye-friendly screen. Above all, one must try to reduce the amount of TV/Mobile usage or take frequent breaks. Homoeopathic medicine CINELUBE EYE DROPS ( HAPDCO) Pour 2 drops 3 times daily.

Hi I had my retinal surgery on 23rd March, my vision is there but the focus is lacking in this eye. There is more light and things look more whitish. How long it takes for restoration of normal focus or I will have to go in for farsight glasses?

Phaco Development Program, Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology, DNB Ophtalmology, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Mysore
There are a lot of types of retinal surgeries. Visual recovery depends upon many factors like for what disease you underwent surgery, what was stage of the disease and if anything like gas/oil has been injected in the eye. Your surgeon is the best person to help you.

Most common cause is having a spectacles power. Just get it checked with nearest eye care specialist. Glasses, contact lenses and surgery ( after 18 years only) are the only three options for good vision if you having spectacle power

Xanthelasma (Cholesterol Deposits Around Your Eyes) - How It's Treated and Removed?

Xanthelasma (Cholesterol Deposits Around Your Eyes) - How It's Treated and Removed?

Cholesterol pockets or Xanthelasma are yellow patches of cholesterol that form in the inner portion of the eyelids. These patches are not harmful; however, they can be a source of cosmetic concern. This condition can be indicative of an underlying heart disease.

Who are the most vulnerable to this disease?

Xanthelasma is a very rare condition that only affects people who have high blood cholesterol levels. However, this condition has been seen to develop even if one’s cholesterol levels are found to be normal. Usually, people in their middle age are the most susceptible to this condition. Xanthelasma affects women more as compared to men.

Causes-

High blood cholesterol level is the primary cause for this disorder. One might be prone to this disorder if the percentage of bad cholesterol (LDL) in the body is on the higher side. Another liver disorder known as ‘biliary cirrhosis’, is also known to increase blood cholesterol levels. Generally, Asians are the most vulnerable to this disease.

Derma Treatments for Xanthelasma-

As these patches do not disappear on their own, they need to be given medical attention. Usually, it’s the cosmetic concern that urges one to go for the treatment. The various treatment options for this disorder are:

  1. Surgical removal of the cholesterol pockets.

  2. These pockets can also be removed with a laser.

  3. Certain medications such as trichloroacetic acid can be used to dissolve these patches.

  4. Cryosurgery, a procedure whereby the cholesterol pockets are exposed to freezing temperatures, is also another treatment option.

  5. Electrodessication is a surgical procedure to get rid of the cholesterol pockets.
