Hello Everyone,

I am Dr. Manisha Ranjan. I am the senior consultant at max hospital in the gynecology and obstetrics department.

So today I am going to discuss about the role of exercise and yoga during pregnancy. So we have seen nowadays the number of C section has been increased and its not because we doctors, its because the sedentary lifestyle and the faulty food style of the patient since very very childhood. So nowadays its our oath to educate and aware each and every patient to just go with all the normal healthy food style and the exercise and yoga. In the antenatal period and to achieve normal weight as soon as possible in the postnatal period. So nowadays we have seen Obesity, pregnancy induced hypertension, diabetes mellitus during pregnancy and because of all these complications, the rate of C section has been increased. So during pregnancy, if you are going with all these normal yoga and exercise it reduces the incidence of all these major complications of the pregnancy. It helps to achieve the normal weight of the baby and the mother also. Excessive weight can during these activities is totally aborted in these periods. So few normal elements of the pregnancy is very worrying some to each and every patient. These are, Nausea, the vomiting, acidity, constipation if you are doing all these exercises and the yoga so the incidence and the severity of these irritating symptoms decreases. So during anti natal period especially in the 1st trimester and the last trimester, we should go with simple exercises like breathing exercise, like doing all the stretching and the relaxing exercise, the leg muscle exercise. Leg muscle exercise decreases the pitiletima, the leg cramps, the incidence of deep vein thrombosis same with the breathing exercise, supplies oxygen, fresh oxygen to the baby, improves the circulation. So during pregnancy period when we are doing good food style, we are having good food, and every day we are taking, doing 30 of walk, and 30 to 45 minutes of yoga and exercise the complication get totally decrease. Do dear friends I just want to tell you please just start taking all the healthy food and doing exercise to reduce the rate of C section. It just relaxes our pelvis and increase the strength of pelvic muscle. Make the pelvis muscle tout during, when we are in the labor pain it help the patient to push down the baby down and the delivery become very smooth and easy.
