Try drinking a large glass of orange juice in the mornings (along with your normal breakfast). Drink a glass or two of full-cream milk throughout the day. -Have 6 small and frequent meals in a day. -Gain muscle mass. It's a good idea to continue to exercise while you attempt to gain weight the healthy way. Strength training includes working with weights and performing exercises such as squats, deadlifts, bench presses, bicep curls, crunches, chin-ups and leg curls. Just keep in mind that the more you exercise, the more calories you will need to consume to replace those you lost while working out. -Quit smoking. As it suppresses the appetite. -Stay healthy. The most important thing through the entire weight gain process is to stay healthy - eating a balanced diet and continuing to exercise throughout. -Take enough of rest and sleep for rejuvenation of the cells and tissues. -Think Positive which will help you in achieving your target of gaining weight. -Avoid taking unnecessary stress/ tension. Medication: Take Schwabe’s Alfaalfa Tonic and Five Phos. Both thrice daily ½ an hour before meals for 3months. Revert. For increasing height: As height can be gained till 21yrs. How much sleep is required for an 18 year old? Due to exams, last week I had about 3hr sleep every night and the sleep debt is starting to kick off. How can I get back to normal? And does sleeping in day contribute the same way as night?

BHMS

You should get at least 7-8 hrs of sleep for healthy mind and body. Sleeping in day also helps but not like sleeping at night because our circadian rhythm is set and its good to follow a regular pattern. If the problem is persisting then you can try relaxing techniques such as some kind of yoga and meditation.

I am taking homeopathic medicine for my crack heel, and I want to take liv 52 capsule because of my bad appetite, can I take it? Homeopathic and liv 52 at same time is it any effect!

MD
Yoga & Naturopathy Specialist, Delhi
I do not think these will interfere. But ask your homeopathy Doctor. However for better heels wear thick cotton socks. Keep the portion where you have cracks wet. It will dry after some time. Repeat wetting process. You will find that within 333-4 days the cracks will start disappearing. For bad appetite go on a 3 days fast. Do some exercise, go for a walk. No medicine is really required for that. Dr. G L Moondraa.

I am 18 years old. I have fear for all the things. How do I over come my fear? Any physical methods?

M.Sc - Applied Psychology, MS - Counselling and Psychotherapy
Psychologist,
Hello lybrate user, hi buddy. Fear is an imagination of your mind. Too much of thinking about future will create fear through anxiety. Too much of swinging to past or future or anything results in fear through worries. Just live in the present moment. That is the power of now. Mind living in the present moment is fearless mind. It is deathless state. Practice meditation and just do your job on hand without likes and dislikes and enjoy the present moment. Present is the'present' a gift given by god. Meditation will enable you to live moment to moment and be happy with inner freedom.

Hi doctors. My mom is suffering from thyroid since long days. I can't see her like this. Is there any permanent treatment for this? If yes, than how it's possible and where should we go?

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
For hypothyroidism only treatment is to take adequate dose of thyroxine for lifetime. There is no option other than this. If treatment is helping then tsh levels should be around 3 to 4 milli units/ml, that usually helps in controlling all the symptoms and the person lives absolutely normal life.
