Tremors, feeling anxious or nervous, sense of panic, sweating, increased heartbeat, feeling of impending doom, stomach discomfort, dizziness etc are signs of anxiety. These can be debilitating. If the anxiety us overwhelming, consult a psychiatrist at the earliest. With the right medication and counseling, it is likely your symptoms will improve. Other than that, try yoga, deep breathing, meditation, moderate exercise, progressive muscular relaxation and guided meditation.  If you are feeling suicidal, consult a psychiatrist immediately.

Sir/Mam I am in depression and now I can not understand what should I do please help me.

Sir/Mam I am in depression and now I can not understand what should I do please help me.
At your age this claim is serious. If you have depression then there are some major ramifications to take into account. I believe there may be some genetic predisposition or there has been some childhood issue, related to anger, that needs urgent attention. You must go and meet with a counselor immediately and if that person advises that you meet with a doctor you must do so and cooperate to your utmost. Please visit these professionals along with your parents. In the meantime please do the following sincerely because you could resolve the problem better with good cooperation: Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. I suggest you do the opposite of what this depression makes you feel like doing (actually, not doing): you will need to fight this condition. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least, 30 minutes but not in the scorching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in God to alleviate your sufferings. Don’t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Above all to be really happy, you need to live in love and for love. Learn all about emotions and how to handle them and that will get you out of the depression rather easily and quickly. A counselor is there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for your success. Be positive every day and learn to be contented with what you have. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Whatever happens please cooperate with the therapy and do not discontinue until the condition is completely resolved.

I am in depression. I don't feel alive. I dont feel like getting up from my bed. I have panic attacks. I tried to kill myself. How can you help me please take me out of this.

You are in an anger-related depression and need to meet with a counselor immediately and if that person feels you need to meet with a doctor too, you must do so. You must cooperate with both therapies and be consistent. I suggest that you visit these professionals along with your parents because their involvement is quite critical to your recovery. Would you know what may be causing so much anger and that you feel you cannot express it for various reasons? If it is of recent origin, you could easily pin-point it and take care of it. But I suspect that it may have to do with something in your developmental years, or your family background. In the meantime do the following, sincerely: Have a good night?s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. I suggest you do the opposite of what this depression makes you feel like doing (actually, not doing): you will need to fight this condition. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Above all to be really happy, you need to live in love and for love: find someone to love and to love you back. A counselor is there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for your success. Be positive everyday and learn to be contended with what you have. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Dear, from the given information, your problem is related to your own attitude. Have you had any disappointing incidents in the near past? disappointment also can manifest such symptoms. I think two or more health related counseling should clear your problem. Please let me know if you are willing for telephonic counseling. Take care.

Hi doctor Actually I used to sing and preparing for auditions but then I fell ill and suffered from cold and now I can not sing anymore. please tell me if it temporary. Will I get my voice back or not? At one side I was ready for auditions and now I can not even sing casually. No low notes, no high notes and the voice quality sounds terrible. I want to get my voice back.

If the voice changed due to cold it will revert back do not worry, some viral illnesses take a long time to heal. Consult an expert ENT so scarring or vocal nodule is not formed.

Pediatrician,
You must consult psychiatrist & if you are in a bigger city there are deaddiction centres. These people need proper supervision and positive reinforcement. You alone can't do it. It is ateam work. But your involvement is most important. Wish you all the best.

To quit drinking he needs to take medicine. However it is very evident that he won't agree to take the medicine if he comes to know about it. You have to administer the medicine for alcohol de-addiction without letting him know. So the medicine should be colourless, odourless, tasteless. For this purpose Homeopathy has an excellent remedy. The remedy not only fulfills the criteria of being colourless, odourless & tasteless but at the same time it is fully soluble in water. You just have to add 20 drops of the medicine to every litre of water. Just keep a separate bottle for the patient. Add 20 drops of the medicine to each litre of water. For example if the bottle contains 2 liters of water then add 40 drops of the medicine. Now whenever the patient asks for water give him that particular medicine mixed water. He will easily drink 2 litres of water in 24 hours. Thus you will be able to administer the medicine for de-addiction of alcohol without even letting him know. You can even give him this medicine mixed water to prepare his peg if he drinks alcohol at home. A quick response is noted in patients who have taken 60 drops of the medicine daily. Now note down the name of the medicine. The medicine is Homeopathic Mother Tincture ACID SULPH Q. You can find it at any Homeopathic Medicine retail shop. Just buy a 100 ml pack for one month. You will able to notice a difference within 10 days of starting of the medicine if you can administer the medicine as 60 drops daily. This medicine will reduce his craving for alcohol without producing any type of side-effects.

Dear lybrate user, thinking about your life situations is good. But too much of anything is harmful. What is important is, how you look at all situations. If you are thinking only about what is happening and why and how it is happening, then probably you will feel stuck after some time. You may start thinking like - ok, now this has happened, what can I do now to get out this situation? and start working on that, only then you will be able to move forward in life. Everyone has ups and downs in life. Look around, you will find there are so many people who are in worst condition, compared to yours. So count your blessings. Look at others' lives who are doing better than you, find out how they achieved this, take inspiration from them. More importantly, cry when you feel like crying. Crying is not a sign of weakness, it relieves you of your sad feelings. Talk to someone who you have faith in. Share your burden of sad things with your friends/parents etc. Learn to let go of certain things. Keep moving ahead in life, acquire new skills, gain knowledge, take charge of your life. All the best.

HI lybrate-user Attention is the one of the major components of memory.in order to for information to move from short term memory in to long term memory, you should give your actively attention to this information. You can improve your memory by practicing active recall during learning and periodic reviews of the study material. Involve yourself reading and think about what you are reading. Think questions for yourself after the reading sessions. Make short notes. If needed repeat it. Take a short break during studies. Try to arrange a schedule for your studies. Before you start studying, think of something that can serve as a reward for yourself. All The Best.

You need to stop smoking immediately and consult a chest physician, it can be due to lung inflammation or cardiac causes (angina). Get ecg, cxr, echo and blood tests to find the reason. If you can not stop smoking on your own, consult a psychiatrist for anti-craving drugs.

General Physician (AM)
Alternative Medicine Specialist, Chandigarh
Health tip to treat Depression without drugs :

Vitamin D:
Have your physician check your vitamin D level and supplement at least 2000IU of D3 or 15-20 minutes of sunlight daily. Optimal serum levels of 25(OH) Vitamin D should be 50-80 ng/ml.

Fish Oil:
Supplement omega-3 fatty acids with fish oil or eat wild salmon at least twice weekly. The brain is made up of fats and health ratios of omega 3: omega 6 fatty acids are absolutely essential to happy mood and healthy brain function.

Food Allergies:
Chronic inflammation from food sensitivities may play a role in causing symptoms of depression and anxiety. Keeping inflammation at bay is critical if you want great sleep and a happy mood! Gluten and other common foods may be causing hidden inflammation. I suggest trying the elimination of gluten, dairy and sugar for a minimum of 30 days to see if this plays a role in your mood.

Probiotics:
Unbalanced gut microbes can contribute to depression, too.

5HTP:
Aid your body's natural production of serotonin. A few essential ingredients for production of this "happy neurotransmitter" are 5HTP 100-150mg, vitamin B6 10-25mg, and Magnesium Citramate 250-500mg at bedtime.

Methyl-folate and B12:
Support methylation. Some patients respond well to sublingual methylcobalamin 2500-5000mcg and oral methyl-folate 1-5mg daily. Be sure to avoid processed cereals and breads which contain synthetic folic acid and may make mood worse.
