Dear lybrate-user, memory and mind power consists of understanding, storage and recollection of information you learn. Understanding depends on concentration. The more creative you are on doing tasks or reading, the more you understand. Storage and recollection depends on your understanding and how well you review what you have learned. Repetition and review of material learned and other tasks provide easy recollection. You can improve your concentration and total brain power with the help of green leafy vegetables, exercise, creative activities, number puzzles like sudoku etc. Hard work is the key to learning and recollection. I am a 29 year old male. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder about 2 and a half years back and I am currently on Lametec 200 mg a day. I was told I would have to continue on this medication for minimum 5 years to life but I am concerned about the side effects of long term use. I have been feeling fine since I started taking the medication. Should I go in for a review?Please tell.

I just want to say you that if you feel better and do not face any anxiety or depression then consult with your psychologist or psycatarist. Or you can take other opinions from another psychologist. If you feel little better you can starts relaxation and meditation theraphies this will heel you effectively and you feel overcome from medication need and side effects if any

Hello I am 26 year old suffering from anxiety disorder and IBS. Doctor give me opipramol 50 mg antidepressant tablet twice a day. I am on 5 week of treatment 40 to50%relief. Doctor said that this medicine take 6 to 8 weeks for full relief .is this true .I have heavy head. Stomach upset. Dizziness. Nausea. Etc. please really me.

Dear Ravi, Opipramol gives relief from anxiety faster and depression later. You have 40 to50%relief already. The depressive symptoms will improve after few more weeks as your doctor said. At times, you may need more dose also, may be even 300 mg/day. Please consult the doctor again and follow his advice. One can not expect dramatic relief for chronic conditions like anxiety and IBS.

One of my friend having cough for a long time he is coughing very hardly and spitting also he is a chain smoker is it a general cough because of inhaling smoke or need any attention.

If he is coughing very hard like you say, it could be a smoker's cough. He needs to get a doctor to examine him, and definitely he has to give up smoking, immediately.

I think I need some help regarding anger management. Sometimes I am having high anger levels n as a result my rate of speech or volume becomes loud plus it is causing me hugely in my personal n processional life.

I will not tell u do and donts for anger management because it is kitabi kida and u cant follow practically..u have to do two things that how to prevent anger and when angry how to control it. Effective Time management for urself best tool for prevention for anger.for controlling anger best method go in open air alone for some time.. Think why r u angry and what will the outcome..80% war u have won and rest 20% it will witheroff it self

You may not be depressed right now but if you continue to sit at home, you might get depressed. Besides physical problems such as weight gain, joint problems can result. So go out, meet a few friends and relatives everyday. make sure you take at least a 30 minute brisk walk daily. Dont think about what has happened so far, focus on what can be done to get your dream job!

My boy friend was a chain smoker 9 months before. He was smoking 5 to 6 cigarettes per day for nearly 3 years. Then he gradually decreased the count day by day due to my continuous compulsion. I personally hate smokers to the core. He said to me that he totally stopped smoking for the past 4 months. How to find whether it is true or not? Is there any way to find out that he is lining to me that he stopped it and still doing it when I am not around? Pls help me find it.

Hi, There are few physical sign in smokers who smoke cigarette, try to find out those ones: -One of the most common and immediate symptoms of smoking is the persistent smokers' cough. The cough is usually the worst in the morning and lessens throughout the day. -Teeth of smokers show brownish black staining from inside and yellow discoloration from outside. -While yellowing teeth may take some time to appear, smoking cigarettes can cause yellow stains on the fingers and fingernails almost immediately. -A wheezing sound can indicate several different physical conditions, but one of them is damaged airways/lungs from smoking. ­-Shortness of breath is a tell-tale sign of a smoker. -Smokers are more prone to getting certain respiratory diseases like colds, bronchitis, and pneumonia. -Lips have a bluish-black discoloration in heavy smokers. -Premature wrinkling: ‘Crows feet’, ‘cobblestone wrinkles’, ‘smoker's face’: Crow's feet is the prominent lines and wrinkles starting from the corner of the eyes. Cobblestone wrinkles are wrinkles that run down at the back of the neck. Smokers also produce matrix metalloproteinase in excess, which degrades collagen and skin loses elasticity as a result. A typical “smoker's face” showing dryness of skin, wrinkles originating from the sides of eyelids running up to cheek called “crow's feet”, wrinkles in front of the ears, and wrinkles running down the neck. -Nodular elastosis of skin with comedone formation. -Multiple open and closed comedones (black heads) over forehead and furrowed wrinkled skin, produced by chronic sun exposure and heavy smoking. Multiple open and closed comedones are present in the periorbital and temporal areas with yellowish discoloration, yellowish nodules, atrophy, wrinkles, and furrows. The eruption is usually bilaterally symmetrical. No inflammation is present, unlike the comedones seen in acne vulgaris. Apart from physical signs and symptoms, the other signs can also help you: -See if their clothes (or hair) smells like smoke. -Look for burn holes in the carpet, in their car, and in their clothing. -If they use mouthwash or gum more frequently.

Absolutely none that I know of. I am glad it is working out well so just go ahead and keep it as long as is necessary. Ultimately you will want to get off of those medications too. so work toards that.

1. Be Yourself - 
Accept yourself and embrace the person you are. Making desperate attempts to fit in a social circle or trying to make people like you could turn depressing. Be yourself and don't compromise on your identity and be afraid to have a mind of your own. Kangana has constantly inspired us to be rebellious and to question stereotypes and sexism.

3. Beat the odds - There might situations when your family does not support your career choices but don't let that stop you from going ahead with it. Believe in yourself and work hard on your goals. I was a chain smoker but now started gym. How can I increase my stamina and clear my lungs.

Dear Ajitesh, Congratulations for stopping smoking. That itself will increase your stamina. Since your lung is clogged with so many cigarettes' smoke, it takes time to clear. It will definitely clear if you do not restart smoking. So continue to motivate yourself not to smoke. Work out in gym as much stamina as you have. Slowly you will increase gym and energy level. You are young and you can do it. Since i don't know how many cigarettes you were smoking and for how long, i can not say the time of clearing lungs. Roughly i will say 3-6 months. Remember that nicotine from cigarettes reach brain and activates it within seconds. The oxygen in atmosphere goes through lungs and blood before it reaches brain. So it takes longer time.

Try to concentrate on things and if some repeatitive thoughts are coming then take 5 deep breathes and say to yourself that in this 2 hours i am suppose to study then after that i will deal with whatso ever problem is.and try to link topics with some familiar things or make graphic representation in your mind as graphic representation reatains for long time, just like if you see 2-3 lines written somewhere you will forget in few days but if you will see posture it will be in your mind for more time.trust me you will see the difference in 2-3 days.good luck
