Dear lybrate-user, welcome to lybrate. Memory and mind power depends mainly on three aspects. Understanding, storage and recollection. To understand what you are studying, you must be able to be attentive or concentrate. Concentration is possible when you are interested in that subject. Creative way of learning can help you concentrate and understand easily. When you are able to understand and concentrate, it is stored within your brain. If you read more and more it will be store in long term memory. Third part is retrieval. Whenever you want to retrive what you learned and stored, your brain gets the request, searches the database and retrieves the information for you. The retrieval may prove to be difficult if you are anxious, stressed, worried or tired physically or mentally. Retrieval is more easy when you are relaxed and healthy. Brain needs nutrients to keep itself sharp. Fruits, vegetables and dry fruits provide much needed nutrients for your brain. Include at least one fruit in your daily diet. Physical exercises, entertainment, hobbies, relaxation, memory games like sudoku etc help keep your memory sharp and active. Take care.

I am two month pregnant.
My wait is increasing very rapidly.
And my tummy becomes out in two months like 3-4 months.
...
There is around 11 kg weight gain during pregnancy. During the first three months of pregnancy, women should gain only 1-2 kg. From the beginning of your fourth month until you give birth for your existing weight of 54 kg, you should gain 400gm/week. For reducing your weight you should have brisk walk for 4-5 km daily, high protein diet (fish, chicken, mutton without fat, pulses, mushrooms), low carbohydrate diet (avoid rice, chapatti, bread, poha, upma, idli, dosa, potato, sugar etc and can use bhakri instead) and low fat i. E. Less oil and preferably use rice bran oil.

Dear lybrate user. I can understand. Balanced diet is the key. Whole grains, cereals, pulses, vegetables, egg white, fish, fruits, nuts etc do not cause obesity. Physical exercise and balanced life is another important factor. Take care.

Yes, if it can be detected it means you are a heavy user. It is normally visible on the lungs, if an X-ray is taken. Patches of lungs will be covered by the tobacco tar and it will be visible on the X-ray.

Psychologist, Delhi
Hi Lybrate user, through your concern I can feel your unconditional love for that girl. But its the time now that you should move on ,just ask from your sole that the girl who is not caring about you now whether she will be right person for you. May be presently your feeling is dominating so can't feel anythingbut after few days you will realise it. You love someone its really wonder feeling you should proud of yourself that you are loving someone but at the same time you must understand that for any relation whether between married or unmarried couple when both agrees then only that relation can continue ,when by anyway any one forcibly tries to continue as other partner is not intrested then it will become burden. You cannot force any one to love or for care ,if anyhow in any type of pressure someone comes then it will be for short time only ,it can be for long time only if someone comes by realising your love and importance. Lets come to your problem that you are still missing that her and it is affecting you very badly you will be normal in few days as time is the best healer. In the meantime you can follow my few suggestions don't be in contact with that girl or any common friend ,involve yourself in some activity, you can join any hobby class, be social as much as you can ,main concept is make your routine such that you don't get time to think on this topic as it will only make your life hell and you will gain nothing, if there will be any chance then it can be only by giving some space in your relation. Take care.

part of aging?
Dear , not necessarily this is due to ageing. I think your attitude has changed. Attitude changes due to many reasons. You are in your middle age. During middle age, every one are conscious about their career, past achievements and future plans. Most think that they could not achieve maximum and therefore become slightly depressed and start working harder. I think, that is your problem. Can you provide me more information? take care.

If we have an anxiety disorder, how to control that or rather how to deal with it? Pls help me with some advice.

If we have an anxiety disorder, how to control that or rather how to deal with it?
Pls help me with some advice.
Hi lybrate-user, if you really want to cure your anxiety forever, you need to have a long term treatment plan that takes into consideration your anxiety symptoms, what you're suffering from, how badly you're suffering, and your specific anxiety disorder. First and foremost, don't let your anxiety cause you to make poor decisions about anxiety treatments. The reality is that most" rapid" treatments don't work. You'll find many people that claim that they have an extract or a medicine that can cure your anxiety immediately, and unfortunately it's never the case - it's people taking advantage of you in your time of need, and hoping the placebo effect will be enough to cure your anxiety. Even prescription medications have a" false" component. Prescription medicines can give you some help with anxiety, but that help is only temporary, and your mind and body can actually become dependent on these medications. As soon as you stop taking them, your anxiety may not only come back - it could even be worse than before. Curing your anxiety is a process - it's a process that can happen, for everyone, but those that hope they can get instant anxiety help are going to be disappointed, and possibly taken advantage of. Your symptoms define your anxiety if you really want to cure your anxiety forever, you need to have a long term treatment plan that takes into consideration your anxiety symptoms, what you're suffering from, how badly you're suffering, and your specific anxiety disorder. Imately effective treatment. Setting up a long term plan - making realistic goalsi possible to reduce your anxiety every day. There are countless tips to learn to manage it. But you need to do two things: you need to make sure that you're giving yourself realistic goals. You need to make it a long term plan. You can get anxiety help now - help that will genuinely reduce your experience with anxiety. But it will only reduce it so much. You'll still need to keep at it, and commit to it in a way that will guarantee short and long term results. Realistic goals will ensure that you don't give up. You're bound to have setbacks, because life isn't stress free. A long term plan will also make sure that you keep at it - you'll not only have something to do next, you'll also know what to do next. For example, let's look at several strategies you can do right now that will reduce your anxiety: start jogging jogging isn't just for your health. Jogging releases endorphins, which are neurotransmitters that improve mood. It also tires muscles, and there is evidence that extra energy in muscles becomes converted to a feeling of anxiety. Sleep better getting more sleep will fight anxiety right away. Far too many people are allowing themselves to be sleep deprived, but sleep is one of the most important and easy tools your mind has for coping with stress. Breathing training many anxiety symptoms, particularly for those with anxiety attacks, are a result of inadequate breathing techniques. Anxiety can actually train your body to breathe poorly, leading to hyperventilation and a variety of related symptoms. Exposure therapy exposure is a cognitive behavioral technique that trains you to get used to things that used to cause you anxiety. For example, if you often get anxiety when you feel dizzy, you spin around in a chair and use a variety of techniques to calm your mind. Lifestyle changes many lifestyle changes that you will need to make in order to live with anxiety also require long term changes. For example, who you spend time with may need to change, as will how you react at your workplace. These strategies take longer, and require more effort and planning on your part. They're also not immediately successful, and there are often setbacks. Realistic goals and an effective and healthy plan can reduce the effects of these setbacks. You'll also need to be okay with admitting to yourself that you have an anxiety problem that needs to be solved. If you continue to try to fight the truth about your anxiety, you'll struggle to overcome it. Anxiety and stress are very real problems that affect people every day, and there's nothing wrong with you if you suffer from them. As soon as you can come to terms with your anxiety, you'll be on the right path towards treating it. Consult for psychotherapy for anxiety consult me for same.

I have been ill for 6 months. I have not been doing any of my work because of headache, low mood, heaviness in head. I do not get up early in the morning. Helpless to speak or talk, weak memory, hopeless in life. I do not do my work. Only take food and go to bed or watch tv or search google etc. I gave up my job of teaching. I feel very helplessness to talk my family or others. I think I am useless and do not enjoy my life at all. I am married and I have a 4 years old daughter. It has happened 5 times before in 2006,2007,2010,2013 & 2014. After treatment I became cure every time within 3-4 months. But this time I have been taking medicines regularly but no improvement. Doctors say it is depression. But I am very hopeless this time. I do not understand what to do. Please help me.

I have been ill for 6 months. I have not been doing any of my work because of headache, low mood, heaviness in head. ...
It is depression and you need to combine medication with counseling for any long-term recovery. You need both counseling and medical intervention. The combination is ideal for the cure to be complete. In fact, counseling will need to go on for a long time to develop skills and techniques to cope with everyday challenges of your life. If you remain episode-free for three years at least, you can be weaned off of the medication. In the meantime please do the following that can be done all by yourself as you desire: You must be active and work towards your reformation. Many lifestyle changes need to be made to progress away for the condition. When you are depressed, you will feel lazy though I would like to call it lethargy. There is an inertia and lack of energy to even think, let alone act. You are required to literally do the opposite of what you feel like doing. Depression makes you want to withdraw, lie down, sleep, become lethargic, slow down, make you too lazy to even think etc. So when I suggested doing the opposite, you will need to fight this disease. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, eat more of proteins and vegetables, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least 30 minutes but not in the scorching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three things, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in God to alleviate your sufferings. Don’t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. If you are young and you can do it with some commitment. The doctor and counselor are there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with them is very critical for your success.

The third stage of male puberty occurs around age 13 or 14, but frequently as early as 11 or late as 16. Pubic hair begins to grow darker and fuller, and the penis now begins to grow in length. The testicles continue growing, erections become commonplace and the boy gains in height at a rate of over 3 inches (7.6 centimeters) a year. The voice may begin "breaking" or "cracking." This is when the boy's voice suddenly and uncontrollably changes pitch mid-word or sentence, due to the growth of the larynx and the lengthening of the vocal cords. Stage four of male puberty commonly takes place when a boy is around 14 or 15 years old. Hair begins showing up in the armpits and on the face, and pubic hair begins to grow coarse. The boy's voice will even out and become deeper. The stage-four boy can use this deeper voice to yell forcefully at the mirror when he sees his new acne, due to his ever-more-oily skin. He begins to grow taller and even faster, at about 4 inches (10.2 centimeters) a year. The penis now grows thicker and continues to lengthen.

Physiotherapy, weight reduction, and guided exercise is the way to go. Also neural pain can be effectively relieved by medication. Also if your mother is diabetic, make sure her sugar is in control. Get her vit b12 levels checked. Deficiency can exacerbate such symptoms. Medicines like gabapentin and pregabalin are effective. Consult with a good neurologist.

Bipolar Disorder - Symptoms, Types And Treatment

Bipolar Disorder - Symptoms, Types And Treatment

Bipolar disorder is the medical term for extreme depression and mood swings that are abnormal or too frequent. The mood swings may go from depression to mania, where the symptoms may border on suicidal behaviour, and other such dangerous tendencies. Find out more about Bipolar Disorder with this article.

Main Symptoms:  The major symptoms of Bipolar Disorder are Mania, Hypomania and Major depression. The patient may swing between these two states on a sudden basis. The dramatic mood swings do not have a set routine or pattern and can strike at any given time. The patient may be in a certain kind of state for a prolonged period like many weeks and months, or can even be in a certain state for a matter of days, before the next mood strikes. The manic symptoms are - decreased need for sleep, Increase appetite, Increase use of addictive substances, Increase energy, Increase speech, Inflated self-esteem, Big talks, Multiple new plans, Overfamiliarity, Overspending, Overeligiosity, Over grooming etc.

While hypomania is a very severe outcome of Bipolar Disorder, many people do not recognise it as a problem until it gets out of hand. Hypomania of mostly missed by the patient but severe mania is more disruptive for the patient and family. This state can actually make a person feel high on energy where the patient may also achieve all-time highs in terms of productivity and a sense of wellbeing. This state can switch to a state of depression and hopelessness within a matter of days or weeks.

Types: Bipolar Disorder can be categorised into many types, depending on the level and severity of the mood swings. To begin with, Bipolar Disorder has full blown cycles of ups and downs in the mood of the patient. The up mood never really manifests into full-fledged mania. This is a more mild form of the disease and the symptoms are often missed.

Rapid Cycling is another form of Bipolar Disease where a patient may experience at least four or even more episodes of major mood swings within a period of 12 months. Further, Mixed Bipolar is a form of the disease where the depression and elevation may come together or in rapid succession of each other. Cyclothymia is another mild form of this mood disorder and comes with subtle changes in one's mood.

Diagnosis and Treatment: Drugs in form of Mood stabilizers like Lithium, Valproate etc on long term basis. Other drugs like Atypical Dopamine blocker and Antidepressants are used for acute management of Mood episodes. Psychologist has very little role in the management of bipolar disorder. Psychologist can provide psycho education for bipolar disorder under psychiatrist guidance. While the diagnosis is done by a clinical psychologist or a psychiatrist with the help of an examination of the symptoms, the treatment includes long-term counselling and therapy as well as medication for more severe cases. Drugs like lithium or benzodiazepine can also be prescribed to control sleeplessness and hyperactivity as well as hostility and suicidal tendencies.

Talking and discussing things are the foremost methods used by psychiatrists when it comes to treating this disease. Persistent mood alterations must be run past a specialist in the field.

You need to be realistic and analyse why you are getting irritated. Accept your short tempered nature and slowly work towards improving your nature. Get yourself checked for hypertension and diabetes. Become active and focus on your work and hobbies, which will give you confidence to overcome your shortcomings. Daily exercise (yoga, pranayam, meditation) can bring wonderful results in no time. Stop being a perfectionist and accept your errors and also of others with humbleness. Bring in humour in life.

Dear , you already know the reason for your low mood. Once you get a new job, your depression will be cured. But you should learn to adjust with the present situation till you get a new job. Don' t worry. Time will take care of that. Please assure that you don' t obsess with what happened. You may consult a psychological counselor. Take care.

Dear lybrate-user, you should know this that anxiety is your creation, and getting an insight into it will only end it, if at all. All external helps are temporary & palliative. A counseling session may be of some/complete help, before plunging into drug based help!
