Does Your Attitude Affect Your Health?

Good health is indeed the key to success. If you were of the idea that health is a biological factor that you are born with and that can be altered or rectified with the advice of a medical practitioner, you are extremely mistaken. To some extent, the quality of your health is in your hands.

Physical health goes hand in hand with your psychological health. Like doctors say, a person might be facing some very serious disease but being mentally strong can help him or her overcome difficulties. Your day-to-day attitude in life is also of great consequence; it decides your overall health when recorded for a year or more.

Effects of positive thoughts on a person's health:

1. Worry less - Fretting is the worst way of coping in life. Each and every individual has issues gnawing at their existence. The best way to deal with problems is to face them with a calm and logical mind. Being anxious over a certain occurrence doesn't help you get anywhere in life. People who worry less have a longer and healthier life.

2. Once you forgive, you naturally move on - Holding on to grudges is an utterly depressing way to carry on with the course of life. Unless you forgive, you are stuck at one single point. This holds you back from achieving to the best of your abilities. Forgiveness doesn't let the other person win; it only helps you live without emotional baggage.

3. Learn to be resilient in times of stress - Thinking yourself as weak is an easy way to let hurdles take control of you. You should be of a strong disposition. Whatever the situation is, a person should take it in stride and consider it as a passing phase. Keep reminding yourself you will be back on your feet in no time at all. Being mentally weak can lead to nervous breakdowns.

4. Creativity can help you sleep over remorse - Fear, anger, hatred or remorse are emotions that bog you down. Every human being should try and channelize their energies into something useful. Thinking creatively is beneficial for oneself.

5. Never say 'impossible' - Giving up on your dreams shows you in poor light. Treating a goal as impossible even before attempting to attain it can be very bad for your health. It can result in chronic nervousness.

The above discussed points would have surely made you understand the importance of positive thinking on a person's health. So, start being positive by looking at the positive sides of everything.

Social Media - How Does It Affect Us?

Social Media - How Does It Affect Us?

Being away or oblivious to social media is synonymous to not following the herd. Social media probably is no more the latest fad; it is the given code to take a deeper look into the present age. The rewarding fact about social networking sites is their ability to transport us to people and places millions of miles away from us. This epoch with its dictates of overproduction and maximum utilization of labor snatches away the boon of communication.

Social media gifts us with easy communication and wider access, but it does have some disadvantages which are discussed below:

1. Social media creates peer pressure - Coming in continuous contact with occurrences in other people's life can lead to mental setback. You may feel low on comparing your achievements with that of others. Consciously or unconsciously you are struggling throughout to be at par with them who are seemingly jubilant. Virtual peer pressure is realized by many.

2. It can bring us at close quarters with penitence - Persistent grief or regret can take a toll on your mental health. It can make you depressive. Depression is again not a healthy thing for personal growth and development. It usually results in lack of motivation.

3. You tend to panic more through continued use of social media - If you have not been in touch with social media for a couple of days, you are instilled with the fear of losing out on incidents. You panic regarding what has been happening all over the world that in reality will in most cases bear no effect on you.

4. It accustoms you to the glamorous appeal of drugs - Social media tends to showcase the ills of society as glamorous contributing factors of life. It celebrates the vices of drugs and other addictive agents as virtues. Young adults are, therefore, easily incited to give in to addiction.

Positive effects of social media on your mental health:-

1. Social media will let you take a break from hovering tasks and responsibilities.
2. Helps you connect with long lost friends. Social networking sites will bring you close to new and old friends alike.
3. Real society is overly judgmental. It prohibits you from coming across as your true self. Virtual media allows you to come out of your cocoon and helps you feel comfortable about yourself.

Does Irregular Sleep Trigger Back Pain?

Does Irregular Sleep Trigger Back Pain?

Pain related sleep disruption has affected a large number of people around the globe. Statistics has it that in India, about 25% of the population suffers from pain-related sleep deprivation. Studies call it ‘the vicious cycle of pain and sleep’ as pain affects your ability to sleep and lack of sleep makes the pain even worse.

Back pain and arthritis are examples of some common pain-related medical disorders. People with these types of chronic pains have reported persistent sleeplessness or have had immense trouble falling asleep.

The following are the primary sleep disorders associated with chronic pain:

  1. Insomnia: It is a medical condition that is characterized by an inability to fall asleep no matter how physically exhausted you are. Insomnia can be acute (lasting for one night to a week) or chronic (that lasts for more than 3 weeks).
  2. Hypersomnia: It is a condition wherein you tend to sleep excessively; in this condition, you will have trouble being awake throughout the day or can fall asleep at any point of time.
  3. Sleep Apnoea: This is a sleep disorder wherein breathing pauses and resumes repeatedly. Risk factors include obesity, age and gender; it is more commonly observed in men. This condition can be chronic with symptoms such as snoring loudly or feeling very tired even after one has had a night’s sleep.
  4. Restless leg syndrome: It is a sleep disorder wherein you continuously move your legs while sleeping. However, this condition can also cause you to move your legs even if you aren’t sleeping.

Some of the causes of sleep disorders due to chronic pain are:

  1. Pain
  2. Worry and anxiety
  3. Sweating at night
  4. Depression and other mental disorders

Treatment

A pain and sleep disorder should be simultaneous as both the components of it, pain and sleep, are interrelated. Some of the ways people with chronic pain can still have a good night’s sleep are:

  • Limiting caffeine intake
  • Abstaining from alcohol and smoking, as these disrupt the sleep cycles, thus aggravating the existing pain.
  • Practicing meditation and other relaxation techniques
  • Painkillers or sleeping pills can be administered, but only with the doctor’s advice.
  • Hot water fomentation over the painful area during night, for better sleep.

Dear, no, it will not cure fibroadenoma. Fibroadenoma is a benign breast condition, if it is bothering you, you can get it removed. I would recommend you to see a breast surgeon.

CO2 Fractional Laser For Wrinkle Removal!

CO2 Fractional Laser For Wrinkle Removal!

Carbon dioxide (CO2) Fractional Laser treatment is a new-age non-surgical skin rejuvenation procedure that excels in treating a range of skin problems. The ablative laser procedure helps get rid of thin skin layers and aims to repair fine lines, blotchiness, acne scars, and traumatic or surgical scars. CO2 Laser treatment also works wonders for damaged skin tissues, a result of excessive sun exposure. However, the procedure is most effective for removing wrinkles, a common skin problem that most people develop in the old age.

Best candidates for CO2 Laser treatment

• People with facial wrinkles, age spots or fine lines

• People with saggy skin, blemishes, acne marks, and facial scars

• Those who have an uneven skin tone/pigmentation

• Someone with skin tan or damage

How does Fractional CO2 Laser work?

CO2 Fractional Laser removes deeper skin tissue layers in a fractionated manner. It eliminates columns of skin, keeping the surrounding area intact to help in the healing process.

The recent CO2 Laser version directs intense laser beams (short-pulsed light energy) to the targeted area. The lasers heat up the underlying dermis, which further results in the shrinking of collagen fibres. After repairing the damage, the laser beam activates natural collagen regeneration in the skin and gives your skin an even, smoother appearance.

Depending on your skin condition, you may have to appear for multiple sessions of the procedure.

Steps to the Procedure

Fractional CO2 Laser treatment is performed in steps-

• The first step is to prepare the skin prior to laser treatment. The dermatologist will perform a series of tests and procedures before treating you. This is done to increase the tolerance level of your skin to professional treatment methods and decrease the risk of any side effects.

• On the day of the treatment, the doctor will apply topical anaesthetics to the area, which needs to be treated. Anaesthesia will ease the pain and make you more comfortable during the procedure. Painkillers and sedatives are used when treating a large area of the skin.

• The dermatologist will clean your skin to remove excess dirt, oil and bacteria.

• Next, the doctor uses CO laser beams on the targeted area to repair wrinkles and other skin damages.

• Finally, he/she will dress the treated area in wraps to protect your skin and allow it to heal.

How long do the effects last?

The effects of Fractional CO2 Laser treatment are usually long-lasting. Once the repair is done, you can expect the results to last for several years, provided you take good care of your skin, as recommended by your dermatologist. Fractional CO2 Laser treatment is safe and does not involve many complications. This is a non-surgical procedure so you need not go under the knife. However, given the intricate nature of the procedure, it is highly recommended that you opt for an experienced dermatologist.
