It is a mood stabilizer. It may be stopped after 5 years after consulting your psychiatrist, provided she is completely asymptomatic during this period and is on regular follow up.

Hello, 1. The first thing is to shift to the lowest dose possible of Carbamazepine, if you have not had seizure for 2-3 years try to taper it off. Get the level tested to confirm lowest pharmacologic level essential. Take Folic Acid supplement 4 mg /day.

Hi No, nothing will occur in your body because of this reason. It is recommended but not compulsory. Blood donation helps in reducing the risk of heart and liver ailments caused by iron overload in the body that by the process of blood donation are maintained at healthy levels. These heart or liver related ailments can be avoided by indulging into a healthy diet and lifestyle too.

Patient on chronic antiepileptic therapy tend to develop vit deficiency manifestations. Usually oral lesion can be due to plethora of reasons and maybe completely unrelated to antiepileptic therapy as such. But usually we give patients with antiepileptic medication a supplemental therapy of vit b12 and folic acid. Folic acid is more important with or without vit b12 to check homocysteine levels in thes patients. The dose and drug recommendation wrt antiepileptic therapy is best done with your treating physician. So I will advise you to supplement your child with folic acid with or without vit b12 and also consult your treating physician regarding the same.
