About Supramox 250 Mg/250 Mg Capsule

As a combination of two penicillin antibiotic, Supramox 250 Mg/250 Mg Capsule treats bacterial infections. It interferes with the synthesis of the cell walls in bacteria and stops it from growing. This is used to treat infections of the lungs and airways, skin, middle ear, sinuses, and the urinary tract.

It also treats conditions like tonsillitis, pneumonia, bronchitis, and gonorrhoea. This combination is made to overcome the resistance occur to any active constituent. You should not use it if you are allergic to any penicillin based antibiotic.

This medication can make birth control pills less effective, so ask your doctor about using non-hormonal birth control to prevent pregnancy during the treatment. Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding.

To make sure this medication is safe for you, inform your doctor:

  • if you have asthma, liver or kidney disease
  • if you have mononucleosis, a history of diarrhoea caused by taking antibiotics, or food or drug allergies

    How does this medication work?

    This medication is a combination of Amoxycillin and Cloxacillin. Both the active constituent belongs to the class of Penicillin antibiotic and inhibits the transfer of a peptide group in the transpeptidation process. As a result, the bacterium is not able to build cell walls and is killed. Also, when it is used against the beta-lactamase of staphylococci, the large R chain does not let the beta-lactamases to bind.
