Know What Your Lunch Should Include!

Packing a healthy lunch, whether for work or for school, is always a good option if you want to stay fit and healthy. Working for long hours can take a toll on your health. You should eat food items which are low in fats and high in nutrition; try and eat more veggies and fruits. Eating your lunch outside everyday can result in an upset stomach whereas home-made food items are both tasty and healthier.

Here are some food items which you should definitely consider for a healthy you.

  1. Sandwiches: Cheese and tomato sandwiches are a great source of protein; especially cottage cheese, as it is an awesome low-fat source of protein. Tomato is good for your skin and also prevents cancer. You can also consider a healthier version by swapping mayonnaise with avocado as it is full of healthy monosaturated fats.
  2. Salads: Salad, especially green salad, is one of the healthiest food items you can pack for lunch. It is simple to make and is a great appetizer as well. You can also add flavour to your salads by adding lots of fruits and vegetables that you like to eat.

  3. Eggplant Pizza: Instead of having the greasy one, you can make your own vegetarian pizza including your favourite vegetables. You can also opt for whole wheat pita-pocket rather than the heavy pizza dough. And diced eggplant acts as a rich source of fibre and potassium.

  4. Chicken Wraps: These are one of the best if you are in a rush and want to eat something spicy and healthy. Chicken is also a rich source of protein; you can add some ketchup to lend some extra flavour to your wraps. You can also include frozen corns, lettuce leaves and peas if you want.

  5. Fruits: If you want to maintain a healthy diet, you should surely include fruits in your lunch. It decreases the appetite for the actual meal. The fructose present in the fruits gives an energy boost and the fibre creates a feeling of fullness. Since most fruits are high on dietary fibres, they help to keep your weight in control.

What Happens To Your Skin As You Age?

The skin is one of the most delicate, yet at times, the most ignored part of the body. Human skin consists of three layers, namely, Epidermis, Dermis and Hypodermis.

The epidermis is the outermost layer of the body and provides protection to the skin. The amount of Melanin in the epidermis is responsible for the variation of skin colour.
The second layer, Dermis protects the body from stress and strains and also nourishes the epidermis.
The deepest layer, Hypodermis also known as subcutaneous tissue, conserves energy. It is made up of cells with the purpose of storing fat, to be utilized by the body.

A person's skin keeps on changing throughout human life. It becomes thinner with the age, because of the ever-changing hormonal production. With increasing age your skin also begins to age, losing its glow and becoming drier leading to larger pores, breakouts, wrinkles, dark circles, sagginess, patches, etc.

Following changes occur in the skin at different age groups:

  1. Infants: The skin of newborns is very delicate, often red/pinkish or purple in colour. The skin of babies keeps on developing with each passing day. Their skin is thinner and sensitive. Also, the newborn skin is more prone to infections and allergies, which is why it is always advisable to use hand-sanitizers before even touching a baby since a small infection might lead to a bigger issue for newborns. Premature babies generally have transparent skin vis-a-vis skin of full-term babies, who are born with fully developed thicker skin.

  2. Toddlers: The skin of toddlers as compared to infants is more developed and bright, and it keeps on changing as your toddler grows.

  3. Adolescents: The skin of adolescents is tougher and undergoes a major change because of the various hormonal changes that happen during this phase of the human body. To name a few, adolescents will experience an increase in sebum production, arm sweating, pubic hair growth, pimples, acne, etc.

  4. Adulthood: Oil production, breakouts, larger skin pores are a few of the skin changes that start as the body also starts to age. The skin might experience acne and dryness in this stage.

  5. Maturity: Exposure to sun, less intake of water, thinning of the epidermis and lack of proper skin care leads to various skin-related changes. These include skin pigmentation, wrinkles, loss of elasticity, paler skin, dryness, expression lines, thinner and drier skin.

  6. Old-age: During this phase of age, the human skin dries, becomes looser, veins become to be more visible, the appearance of age spots, sagging of skin, patchy skin are issues that humans are exposed to face.

Any skin related issue should be taken up and discussed with the Dermatologist/Skin Specialist to find the best cure to the problem.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details, in which there is no mention of how is your blood glucose controlled. Sometimes if blood glucose is not wll controlled, there is a chance of loosing weight and developing signs of general weakness. The medicine mentioned (cyproheptadine) is actually an antihistamine. Appetite stumlation is a side-effect of that drug. It is not supposed to be taken for that at all. Plus it will produce fair amount of drowsiness. Thanks.

All psychotropic drugs have side-effects: mild with some and severe with others. There are medicines to treat the side-effects too. But now the choice is whether the main problem is more serious than the side-effects. In that case, you will need to take the medication anyway. You can minimize the effects by being on therapy too and doing regular exercise, sleep well, deal with your feelings, eating a healthy diet, and living a stress-free life.

Are you stressed?Take adequate sleep. Sleep deprivation can cause dark patches. Use some sunblock with spf (at least 50) every time you go out in sun. U can do the following 1. Tomatoes--mix one teaspoon of tomato juice with one and a half teaspoon of lemon juice. Gently apply this mixture on your dark areas and allow it to sit for 10 minutes. Rinse it off well with cool water. 2. Cucumber- vcut a fresh cucumber into thick slices and chill it for about 30 minutes. Place the slices on the dark areas for about 10 minutes. Wash the area thoroughly with water. 3. Raw potatoes -- grate a couple of chilled potatoes to extract the juice. Soak a cotton ball in the juice and place it on your affected area. Make sure the juice covers the area entirely. Allow the juice to sit for about 15 minutes and rinse well with cool water 4. Rose water -- soak cotton eye pads in rose water for a few minutes. Place the soaked pads on your dark patches. Leave them on for about 15 minutes. 5. Regularly undergo meditation and perform some exercise. U need proper constitutional med to get permanent relief. Oily Skin - Know The Homeopathic Remedies For It!

Homeopathy is a branch of traditional medicine that aims to cure diseases and disorders by focusing on causal factors. Homeopathic treatment comes to your aid for all your big and small problems alike. If you are part of the league that suffers from oily skin, homeopathy will be your answer. In most cases, oily skin doesn't lead to severe health issues, but it does cause inconvenience. It makes you feel sticky and smudgy, leading to a loss of confidence.

Homeopathic cures to keep oil on the skin at bay

Natrum Mur: A good homeopath will administer this medicine only after having inquired a litany of things about your constitution. A homeopathic preparation varies from person to person depending upon the constitution of their body.   If you have oily skin, you are prone to pore - clogging, acne, pimples and pockmarks. Natrum Mur efficiently deals with these problems. It helps in removing excess oil from the pores, making your skin glow at the same time. Prescription of this medicine is based on symptoms like inability to cope with difficulties, nervousness, intolerance to heat exposure, and an agitated disposition.

Psorinum: Your greasy skin often casts a shadow on your natural complexion. Oily skin makes you look exhausted at all times of the day. You can benefit from Psorinum as it deals with the overactive

sebaceous glands, cleans the pores of your skin, treats pimples and also fights dark patches. People who sweat profusely and suffer from body odor problems or people susceptible to cold are usually advised to take this medicine.

Silicea and Kali Bromatum: Excess oil secretion often leads to the development of pus containing acne or pimples. These pimples, when diminish, may leave permanent or long lasting marks on your face. Scars and marks further result in pigmentation. Such problems can take a huge toll on your psychological health, leading you to be overly concerned about the way you look or losing interest in self appearance. In this regard, Silicea and Kali Bromatum can work wonders for your oily skin and its resultant effects.

Berberis Aquifolium: No amount of make up can mar the appeal of clear skin. If you have oily skin, you are likely to face dullness. Since dirt easily settles on a greasy skin, it can make you look darker than usual. Berberis Aquifolium is an unparalleled medication in homeopathy that treats the above conditions without any side effects.
