How many years a person take antidepressant medicine like clonazepam, escitalopram and olanzapine ?Please tell.
It is not good continue medicine. It leads side effects. Better to come out from medicine. For depression psychological counselling will helps very much. I think you never attend for counselling. Strong counselling sessions are required. Use the medicine whenever you feel normal then leave it. It is best as soon as possible you should come out from the medicine. Years together you use your mind addicted to medicine. Suppose in future you cannot sleep properly without medicine. It is always better to come out from the medicine. Better to come out from yourself. Share the internal feelings and depressive thoughts to your close friends and family members. Better to change yourself. Control your depressive thoughts. If not possible yourself take the help of psychologist. Do not depend on medicine. Must and should conditions only we go to medicine. Better to come out yourself from this stage. It is always best. Ok best of luck.

Dear, paranoid schizophrenia also called schizophrenia, paranoid type is a sub-type of schizophrenia. The clinical picture is dominated by relatively stable, often paranoid, delusions, usually accompanied by hallucinations, particularly of the auditory variety (hearing voices), and perceptual disturbances. These symptoms can have a huge effect on functioning and can negatively impact a person? s quality of life. I am sorry to say, paranoid schizophrenia is a lifelong illness, but with proper treatment, a person suffering from the illness can live a higher quality of life. Please work with your psychiatrist for management of your symptoms. Take care.

It is a very good drug having both antidepressant and antipsychotic properties. You have to work with your psychiatrist by expressing your symptoms during review, what was reduced and what has not to help him get you into remission. Lack of motivation is a part of depression which can also be treated, also ask him for CBT from a clinical psychologist which will hasten recovery.

Hi Sir, I have been taking olanzapine 2.5 once daily for last 3 years along with my antidepressants. My doctor now discontinued it as it was (perhaps) affecting my mood adversely. So how much time does it take for olanzapine to get out of my system completely?

Oleanzpine is not for the sleep only. It is antipsychotic medicine. If you want management for sleep. Learn relaxation training and stress management.

My son diagnosed ad schizipherenia two years back. He is now ok and taking 5 mg of olanzapine salt since last 1 year. Doctor is not sure to stop or reduce the medicine. My son is 23 years old and is a teaching faculty at AAKASH. Can you suggest any way out or equivalent medicine in homeopathy so that olanzapine could be stopped.

Schizophrenia can be a very crippling disease, if treatment is tampered with by amateurs or by lay people. You must strictly follow doctor?s instructions. To me your son is seemingly doing well, and holding on to a job with major responsibility. If you push the expectation on him at this juncture, you may reverse all the benefits, inadvertently. Instead of worrying about changing medication, I recommend that you put him on some counseling along with the medication. This will help him develop coping skills that will stand him in good stead. Medication may be reduced, subject to certain conditions, but if you are thinking that he could be taken off of it, I seriously doubt that. The counselor will put him on some Cognitive Behavior Modification program and according to the improvement may suggest review of the medication with the psychiatrist. Now that is the way to go about this. Please do not even suggest to your son about reducing medication in any form. Let it come from the professional, ideally.

I have been taking olanzapine 2.5 mg for last one year along with my antidepressants to manage my ocd thoughts. But it was making me a bit emotionless so I have recently put on on risperidone 1 mg (as a starting dose). Just wanted to know how much risperidone dosage is equal to 2.5 mg olanzapine? Thank you!

No need to take Antipsychotic in 1 st episode of ocd...it can be treated only one SSRI except Resistant ocd or more then two episode.
