The brain is said to weigh only 2% of the weight of a person but at the same time, it accounts for 20% of the energy consumed by him or her. There are so many great things by the brain, quite a lot of which are quirky.
The brain is constantly developing and changing. As a matter of fact, one thing which is said to change is the way the brain functions i.e. it is said that the brain could alter the way it functions in accordance with the seasons!
Researchers from Belgium found that when people performed some actions; while the manner in which these actions were performed did not change, what was observed to change was the amount of brain intensity which was warranted in order to complete these tasks.
Seasons on your mind?
Some of the weird things that were found by them include the fact that if a person wished to sustain his or her attention, the effort in neural terms was the least in the month of December. What this means is that if a person wishes to focus on doing something which is of quite some importance, then he or she is best off doing it in December as the stamina for doing so would be the greatest. On the other hand, the month of June was seen to demand the greatest effort for a person to concentrate.
In many situations, things seem to have been just out of mental grasp. It becomes difficult to recollect certain memories of a particular time. This problem is usually faced by people during the months of autumn. This is because the autumn time demands most of the working memory of a person. On the contrary, if a person seems to have the ability to remember something off the top of his or her head, it is most likely to occur over the period of time around the spring equinox.
Now, a lot of people are likely to wonder why this is the case and whether this phenomenon can be seen in each and every person. The answer to that is that people who have SAD or Seasonal Affective Disorder may be more likely to have the working of their minds affected due to changes in seasons. This has not been proven yet.
So, if a person is not a winter person, it may be all in the mind!
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can occur after one has been in an accident or has faced an event that has left a scar in their memory. The accidental trauma overpowers you with sentiments of misery and weakness, which in turn can trigger PTSD. Here are a few ways in which you can get over the trauma.
Tip 1: Get moving
Tip 2: Self manage your nervous system
Tip 3: Connect with others
Once the reflex has been activated, face-to-face association with people who make you feel protected and safe is the fastest and the best method for bringing your nervous system into its right place. The kind backing of others can be important to your recovery. Search for someone you can converse with for a long period of time, somebody who will hear you out without judging you or constantly being occupied. That individual might be your better half, a relative, a companion, or an expert advisor.
Tip 4: Make healthy life changes
The market is replete with various facial scrubs that are favoured by men and women of all ages. These are especially helpful if you are facing dust and pollution every day, or are exposed to the sun for prolonged hours. Using facial scrubs is a form of exfoliation that helps in rubbing the granules into the skin so as to remove dead cells and give the skin a more supple tone. Yet, too much use of facial scrubs can also lead to a variety of skin troubles.
So, how can you tell if you are overdoing our facial scrubbing routine?
- Redness and Peeling of the Skin
When you over exfoliate or use facial scrubs too often, you may find redness on your skin due to the constant abrasive action. Also, you may experience too much of skin peeling and flaking due to the same reason, instead of a mere clean up of the dead skin cells. In such cases, you will need to halt your process of constant buffing.
- Products with Green Tea Extracts
Using tea tree oil or green extracts can help in better exfoliation with a gentle action on your skin. This can soothe the skin and even prevent skin cancer, as per a variety of scientific and medical studies. Licorice root extract as well as cucumber based scrubs can also help in making the skin softer.
Inflammation is another sign that you may be overdoing your facial scrubbing routine. You can use a scrub with bisabobol which usually comes from Chamomile. This can help in reducing inflammation due to constant exfoliation and facial scrubbing.
- Scrubbing Gear
Using a washcloth to clear away those dead skin cells or a scrubber or brush can turn out to be too harsh for your soft facial skin to handle. You must restrict the use of these tools to about once a week so that your skin does not get too dehydrated or wear a scrubbed look which does not have a glow.
- Testing a New Product
Test a new scrub over a small patch of your skin before using it to watch out for tell tale signs like rashes or other eruptions. Also, when you are using a seed or dry fruits based scrub, you must limit the use and not rub it around the delicate areas of the eyes and mouth so that the skin does not get rubbed too much, which can leave it loose.
Using facial scrubs should be limited and used only when you feel like there is too much build up of dirt and grime.
