घर-घर में मसालों और अन्य कामों में उपयोग किए जाने वाले सौंफ से लगभग सभी लोग परिचित ही होंगे. सौंफ एक स्वादिष्ट और सुगंधित जड़ी बूटी है. जाहिर है इसमें कई तरह के औषधीय गुणों की भी मौजूद भी होती है. यही कारण है कि इसका प्रयोग रसोई घर से लेकर आयुर्वेद तक में किया जाता है. कोई छोटी मोटी बीमारियों और अन्य तरह की समस्याओं के निपटान में सौंफ हमारी मदद करता है. जहां तक इस में पाए जाने वाले उपयोगी तत्व की बात है तो इस में मैंगनीज विटामिन सी वाले कोटेशन और फाइबर आदि प्रमुख हैं. अपने गुणों के कारण सौंफ के फायदों की लिस्ट काफी लम्बी है. आइए इस पर प्रकाश डालते हैं.

1. कैंसर के उपचार में
कैंसर जैसी खतरनाक बिमारी का खतरा कम करने में भी कैंसर की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका है. दरअसल सौंफ, बृहदान्त्र से कैंसर से उत्पन्न विषाक्त पदार्थों को हटाने में सहायक है. इसके अलावा सौंफ में एनेथोल नामक एक अच्छी क्वालिटी का कैंसर रोधी एंटी-इन्फ्लेमेटरी फायटोनुट्रिएंट भी पाया जाता है.
2. दिल के लिए
ह्रदय के परेशानियों से निजात दिलाने में भी सौंफ का उपयोग किया जा सकता है. सौंफ, पोटेशियम, फाइबर, विटामिन सी और एंटीऑक्सीडेंट का भी एक अच्छा स्त्रोत है. ह्रदय और उच्च रक्तचाप के तमाम समस्याओं से निपटने में हमारी सहायता करता है.
3. माउथ फ्रेशनर के रूप में
सौंफ के बीज सुगंध वाले होते हैं. ये सुगन्धित होने के साथ ही रोगाणुओं से लड़ने वाले भी होते हैं. इसमें पाए जाने वाले एंटी इन्फ्लेमेटरी गुण मसूड़ों के दर्द को भी कम करने में सहायक होते हैं. सौंफ के सुगन्धित बीजों को चबाने के अलावा आप इससे बनी चाय को ठंडा करके कुल्ला भी कर सकते हैं.
4. पीरियड्स के दौरान
पीरियड्स को बाधित करने वाले कारणों को ख़त्म करके इसे नियमित करने में सौंफ में पाया जाने वाला एम्मेनागोगे और फ्योटोस्ट्रोजन पाए जाते हैं. ये तत्व स्तन वृद्धि, पूर्व-मासिक सिंड्रोम और रजनोवृत्ति आदि की समस्याओं में उपयोगी है.
5. आंखों के लिए
सौंफ से होने वाले तमाम फायदों में एक इसका आँखों के लिए होने वाला उपयोग भी है. कई शोधों से आए निष्कर्षों से ये पता चला है कि ये मोतियाबिंद और आँखों में जलन आदि के उपचार में सहायक साबित हो सकता है.
6. चाय के रूप में
सौंफ में डिएफोरेटिक  गुण पाए जाने के कारण ये पसीने को उत्तेजित कर विषाक्तता को दूर करता है. इसके अलावा ये एक मूत्रवर्धक के रूप में, मुत्रपथ की तमाम समस्याओं और जोखिमों को कम करता है. इसके लिए आपको बस सौंफ का चाय पीना है.
7. श्वसन संबंधी समस्याओं में
सौंफ का उपयोग हम शवासन संबंधी समस्याओं जैसे कि फ्लू, सर्दी, साइनस और खांसी जैसे रोगों के उपचार में भी किया जा सकता है. इसके लिए आप एक कप पानी में दो चम्मच सौंफ डालकर, पानी के आधा हो जाने तक उबालें. इसके बाद इसे छानकर ठंडा हो जाने पर इसकी मदद से कुल्ला करें.
8. मस्तिष्क के लिए
सौंफ में मौजूद पोटेशियम की प्रचुर मात्रा इसे एक बेहतरीन मस्तिष्क बूस्टर के रूप में स्थापित करती है. इससे संज्ञानात्मक प्रदर्शन और मस्तिष्क की कार्यशीलता को भी बढ़ावा मिलता है. सौंफ मस्तिष्क में ऑक्सीजन की आपूर्ति बढ़ाकर तनावमुक्त रखने में भी सहायक हो सकता है.
9. पाचन शक्ति के लिए
पाचन शक्ति के लिए तो सौंफ एक अचूक इलाज की तरह है. सौंफ के बीज में पेट की कई समस्याओं को ठीक करने वाले तत्व होते हैं. इसमें शूल, पेट फूलना, अपच, गैस, कब्ज, सूजन आदि पेट की समस्याओं को दूर करने की क्षमता होती है. इसका सेवन करना भी एकदम आसान है. भोजन करने के उपरान्त एक छोटा चम्मच सौंफ का बीज मुंह में लेकर चुसना होता है.
