There are lots of benefits espoused by doctors all over the world about getting adequate sleep. Lack of sleep can have an adverse impact on your daily work-life balance and health. Thus, you should never let it happen. If you sleep more than six hours a day it can have a lot of benefits, some of which are mentioned below:

1. Better health: Studies have shown that having a good night’s sleep can help your body avoid serious health problems like diabetes, obesity, heart attacks and various other cardiac problems.

2. Lesser Pain: According to research, if you have chronic or acute pain from an injury, then sleeping for more than six hours can help you get better pain relief. It has been proven in multiple studies that good sleep can be an excellent supplement to pain medications. However, being in pain can make it harder for you to sleep. You should use pain relievers in such cases which can aid sleep but ensure that you have more than 6 hours of shut-eye. 

3. Lower risk of injury: If you have adequate sleep then there are chances that you won’t feel tired during the day while you are out at work. Anxiety & Depression - Are They Same?

It is true that anxiety and depression are two of the most common mental health problems now. In reality, anxiety and depression are two separate states of emotion. If the person is suffering from an anxiety disorder, he/she may or may not suffer from depression. The opposite is also true. One suffering from depression may not have any symptoms of anxiety.

In fact, in about 50% of the cases, people with depression may suffer from anxiety and vice versa. Since anxiety disorder and depression are two different emotional states, proper diagnosis is the key to proper treatment.

To differentiate between the two, one needs to have a fair knowledge about the symptoms of each.

Symptoms of Depression

Some of the common symptoms of depression are:

  • General lack of interest even in activities that people normally enjoy.

  • Not having a good appetite.

  • Not being able to fall asleep.

  • Movements are getting slow.

  • Lacking energy.

  • A feeling of worthlessness or even guilt.

  • Difficulty in concentration.

  • Suicidal behaviour and thoughts.

If a person is experiencing five or more of the above symptoms for the last two weeks or more, he is probably a good case to be diagnosed as suffering from major depression.

Other Types of Depression:

  • If someone is experiencing only a few of the above symptoms, he too can be diagnosed with some kind of depression, but not major depression. The condition may be best diagnosed as Persistent Depressive Disorder, or simply as Depressive Disorder, due to some known or unknown condition.

  • In the case of women, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder is a possible diagnosis.

  • If a person is exhibiting symptoms of mania along with some or a few of the above symptoms, it may well be diagnosed as the bipolar disorder.

Symptoms of Anxiety Disorder:

Below are some of the common symptoms associated with Anxiety Disorder:

  • Extreme levels of worry

  • Being perennially restive

  • Getting tired easily

  • Difficulty in concentrating

  • Getting irritated easily

  • Disturbed sleep

If someone is experiencing these symptoms for six months or more, he may get a diagnosis of anxiety disorder.

Other Anxiety Disorders:

Apart from a generalised anxiety disorder, there are other types of anxiety disorders as well. These include panic disorder, separation anxiety, various types of phobia, etc.

If people compare lists of symptoms for Major Depression and Generalized Anxiety Disorder, they can get a sneak peek into the proper state of emotional imbalance: anxiety or depression. Indeed, there are some overlapping symptoms like sleeping difficulties, difficulty in concentrating, irritability, fatigue etc., which are common to anxiety as well as depression. It is up to a trained and experienced psychologist to properly and thoroughly evaluate a person to establish whether the person is suffering from anxiety, or depression, or both.

I am 17 year old boy. 1. Wash face regularly --washing regularly can reduce the amount of oil on the skin. Wash with a gentle soap and warm water 2. Use a toner--astringent toners that contain alcohol tend to dry out the skin. U should test out any new toner on a small patch of skin to avoid potential irritation. 3. Pat the face dry--when drying the face after washing and using toner, people should gently pat their skin dry with a soft towel. This should be done with care, however. Pulling down on the skin with a towel, or using a rough washcloth, is not advised, as it may stimulate the skin to create more sebum. 4. Use blotting papers-- blotting papers will not treat the sebum production in the skin, but they can be used to lift excess oil off the skin throughout the day to make it appear less shiny. 5. You can apply aloe vera juice/gel from its leaf (fresh), not from ready made gels available in market. Remove skin of an aloe vera leaf. Take /scoop out gel. Apply this gel to your skin. Wash with plain water after an hour. Also stay hydrated, avoid greasy foods and trans fats, and to eat a well-rounded diet full of whole foods.

May be you are having piles or fissures which cause bleeding. Precautions- avoid street food, fried, masala and fast food have regular food habits as well as habit of going for motion. Don’t avoid when you have an urge for going to toilet. Take 2 to 3 glasses of warm water in the morning. This will help in reducing acidity as well as hardness of stool and you don’t have to strain your pelvic muscles. Avoid sitting for long time at one place. Sedentary habit causes constipation. Driving bike or cycle for long duration at a time may be avoided. Travelling in a car or bus for long journey is also not good. Train is better as you can change positions.
