If you are having bleeding with your stools it is an indication that you consult your psychiatrist about reviewing the medications. My baby is two years old my baby was constipated I went to doctor lactulose solution usp he gave me the medicine and told me to give it twice a day he told me to use it for five days after that can use it will it cause any problem to the baby the baby is still not getting better after using that medicine for 5 days can use it again often when constipated.

Give toilet training - by training her/him to use in sitting position, give plenty of fluids, avoid snacks made of bakes, give lactulose syrup for one week .with water. And toilet training is must in addition to medicines .thank you.

I am suffering from "sangahini" disease. There is mucus in stool and gradual weight loss. Generally I am constipated but when I take laxatives like Duphalac, kayam tablet and isabgol then I start having mucus in stool. Sometimes I have hard stool which causes bleeding and anal fissure. I have heard in "Sangrahni" disease milk should not be taken. Can you explain why? One more thing when I take Duphalac syrup for stool softening then I have mucus containing stool. Why this happens? Is it because of lactulose? Does lactulose harm intestines and produce more mucus? I think milk is forbidden in "Sangrahni" because of lactose in it which is difficult to digest by small intestine and might cause more mucus production, more gas and bloating. And I think since lactulose is similar to lactose that is why Duphalac syrup is causing mucus in my stool. Am I right? Other than Duphalac which stool softener should I use so that it doesn't produce mucus in stool? Should I try Lactihep syrup or Sorbitol syrup or Polyethylene glycol 3350 sachet? Please help me in this regard.

I have been having hard stool problem for 1 month. Some tablets and syrups were recommended by doctor, my condition was good while having those syrups (milk of magnesia and lactulose solution. But after those bottles have completely consumed, the problem of hard stool is again started. I do not know why this happens. I have been suffering very pain at the time of bowel movement though I am taking enough fluid and fiber. Please give me solution.

Hard stool is caused because of lack of water intake. Best thing to do is change your diet and try different foods.

For constipation I will suggest you to give food with high fiber content like green leafy vegetables and can also eat bananas at bedtime as it is effective as a laxative and if necessary take 10 ml of syp cremaffin at night
