  1. It takes time: When it comes to dieting, it is quite unfortunate to see people think of the process as a quick fix in order to meet a body target. It is often the case that these people slip back into their old dietary ways as soon as they can. Going back to eating things which are unhealthy is really bad after going on a diet as the weight of the person then starts to change. A change in mentality is required here as the person who goes on a diet should keep in mind the fact that a diet is something which is a change in lifestyle for the better and not a proverbial shot in the arm.
  2. Be realistic: Another reason why diets fail is on account of expectations of results which do not seem to be reasonable, by any measure. This happens to be the case in a surprisingly large number of instances. Results when it comes to health and fitness take a pretty long time to show; time which is spent consistently following the correct schedule.
  3. Don’t lose focus: While most diets are well-intentioned, one of the issues when it comes to them is the fact that there is so much preparation behind it that when a person deviates even in a minor manner away from the plan, fatalistic thinking comes in and takes hold. In the end, the ultimate result of all of this is the sad consequence that the diet is let go off. This occurs by the way of the person thinking that since he or she did cheat on the diet once, all is lost. It is to be kept in mind by a person who is in this sort of scenario that the fact that he or she did not follow the diet plan which had been set out but in its stead, completely contradicted it by the way of what was eaten, does not mean that he or she should give up!

Guilt is a feeling of worry or unhappiness that you have because you have done something wrong or, you have let yourself or others down by failing to meet a particular standard. This standard may be self-imposed or set by others. In the overall scheme of emotions, guilt is generally categorized as a negative one.

Recognizing Guilt -

Guilt can be healthy or unhealthy. If the guilt is proportionate or rational, it can be called healthy. Still, it is a negative feeling. You may experience healthy guilt when you cause a problem or hurt someone when you could have avoided that. The guilt is telling you to make amends and to make changes in your behaviour.

Unhealthy guilt, on the other hand, is disproportionate, irrational or misplaced. This is where you feel guilty even when you did not cause any problem or hurt someone. You have no control over the situation. Imagine you just got a promotion at the same time when your friend suffers a serious career setback.

Managing Healthy Guilt

1. Accept and apologize.

If you have caused problems for someone and are feeling guilty about it, say sorry straight away, and make an unconditional apology. Do not justify your actions or shift the blame to others.

2. Apologize as soon as possible.

Delaying to apologize can make your guilt worse and can lead to anxiety. Find a way to make the situation right and do it as soon as possible.

3. Make the necessary changes in your behaviour.

It is important to take the initiative and address the problem in your behaviour so that you do not repeat the same mistakes.

4. Move on.

The sooner you put the guilt behind you, the sooner you can focus on your present activities and work more productively.

Managing Unhealthy Guilt

1. Be realistic

You have to understand that you cannot control everything happening around you. You are only responsible for your own actions. So, always be realistic about what you can control and what you cannot.

2. Share your feelings

Talk to other people about what you are going through and try to seek their point of view and opinion. This can be helpful because others will make you realize that you are not the person to be blamed. Receiving positive and true feedback from others can really make you feel good.

3. Set your standards realistically

You may feel guilty because you are not able to reach the standards that you have set for yourself. You are constantly feeling guilty that you have not done well enough. During this process, you completely overlook what you really have accomplished.

One of the most common injuries in sports is a stress fracture. Overcoming an injury like a stress fracture can be difficult, but it can be done.

A stress fracture is an overuse injury. It occurs when muscles become fatigued and are unable to absorb added shock. Eventually, the fatigued muscle transfers the overload of stress to the bone causing a tiny crack called a stress fracture.

Causes :

Stress fractures often are the result of increasing the amount or intensity of an activity too rapidly. They also can be caused by the impact of an unfamiliar surface (a tennis player who has switched surfaces from a soft clay court to a hard court); improper equipment (a runner using worn or less flexible shoes); and increased physical stress (a basketball player who has had a substantial increase in playing time).

Common sites:

Most stress fractures occur in the weight-bearing bones of the lower leg and the foot. More than 50 percent of all stress fractures occur in the lower leg. The repetitive stress of the foot striking the ground can cause trauma. Without sufficient rest between workouts or competitions, an athlete is at risk for developing a stress fracture.

Stress fractures affect people of all ages who participate in repetitive sporting activities, like running. Medical studies have shown that female athletes seem to experience more stress fractures than their male counterparts. Many orthopaedic surgeons attribute this to a condition referred to as "the female athlete triad", eating disorders (bulimia or anorexia), amenorrhea (infrequent menstrual cycle), and osteoporosis. As a female's bone mass decreases, her chances of getting a stress fracture increases.

Presenting complaints:

Pain with activity is the most common complaint with a stress fracture. This pain subsides with rest.


X-rays are commonly used to determine stress fracture. Sometimes, the stress fracture cannot be seen on regular x-rays or will not show up for several weeks after the pain starts. Occasionally, a computed tomography (CT) scan or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) will be necessary.


The most important treatment is rest. Individuals need to rest from the activity that caused the stress fracture, and engage in a pain-free activity during the six to eight weeks it takes most stress fractures to heal. If the activity that caused the stress fracture is resumed too quickly, larger, harder-to-heal stress fractures can develop. Re-injury also could lead to chronic problems where the stress fracture might never heal properly. In addition to rest, shoe inserts or braces may be used to help these injuries heal.


1. When participating in any new sports activity, set incremental goals. For example, do not immediately set out to run five miles a day; instead, gradually increase distance.

2. Cross-training - Alternating activities that accomplish the same fitness goals can help to prevent injuries like stress fractures. Instead of running every day to meet cardiovascular goals, run on even days and bike on odd days. Add some strength training and flexibility exercises to the mix for the most benefit.

3. Maintain a healthy diet. Make sure you incorporate calcium- and Vitamin D-rich foods in your meals.

4. Use the proper equipment. Do not wear old or worn running shoes.

5. If pain or swelling occurs, immediately stop the activity and rest for a few days. If continued pain persists, see an orthopaedic surgeon.

6. It is important to remember that if you recognize the symptoms early and treat them appropriately, you can return to sports at your normal playing level.

I am in therapy for historic situational anxiety. I went to doctor for medication to help ease a bad season i'm in with the anxiety. Having anxiety with depression, but the anxiety is and has been the main problem from which everything stems. Doc prescribed wellbutrin and buspirone. Started wellbutrin this morning and feel a substantial increase in anxiety. Nervous to continue taking it if it's going to make the problem im trying to fix worse. Is wellbutrin usually prescribed for anxiety? Should I give it a little longer? Should I just take the buspirone as needed to keep the anxiety manageable?

Wellbutrin can cause anxiety in some people. So you should check with your doctor who may decide to change this medication for another. Anxiety and depression oftentimes go together. And you are right the anxiety may be increasing or even causing the depression. You need to check on your prenatal history and early childhood for influencing factors. You must combine medication with therapy. This is extremely important for your anxiety and depression. Life is full of problems as a norm. Any attempts to escape will never help: you must learn to face these problems every day with good success. The counselor will help you in this regard. I also strongly believe that every crisis offers an opportunity for change, if you seek it and grab the opportunity. Please meet with a counselor and work on your emotions, particularly fear and anger. Exercise is very important but you have to build on it developmentally. I suggest you do the opposite of what this depression makes you feel like doing (actually, not doing): you will need to fight this condition. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, attend yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on tv or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least 30 minutes but not in the scorching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in god to alleviate your sufferings. Don’t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Above all to be really happy, you need to live in love and for love. Learn all about emotions and how to handle them and that will get you out of the depression rather easily and quickly. A counselor is there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for your success. Be positive everyday and learn to be contended with what you have. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do calisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Whatever happens please cooperate with the therapy and do not discontinue until the condition is completely resolved.

Impetigo is a common and contagious skin infection. It mainly affects infants and children.

It manifests as red sores on the face, especially around a child’s nose and mouth, and on hands and feet.

When these sores burst it forms honey colored crusts

Causative agent is staphylococcus bacteria, sometimes group a streptococcus may cause,
This condition is highly infectious, these bacteria enter into skin through any break in the skin then it form the colony in the body. Or this condition is also spread by the touch of sore of a person with impetigo or contaminated items like towels, clothes, or sheets or any other contaminated articles.

Risk factors


  • Dialysis undergoing persons
  • Weak immune system such as from hiv
  • Skin condition such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, scabies, herpes simplex or chicken pox
  • Insects bite or poison ivy.
  • Crowded conditions -impetigo easily spreads in schools and child care settings.
  • Warm, humid weather- this infection are common in summer
  • Certain sports -some games in which skin to skin contact, such as football or wrestling.
  • Broken skin -the bacteria that cause impetigo may enter through a small skin injury, insects bite or rash
  • Age -mainly it occurs in children ages 2 to 5.



  • Sore -the initial symptoms of impetigo are reddish sores on the skin, these sores quickly grow into blisters, ooze and burst and then form a yellowish or honey crust.

Hair fall can be caused by a number of reasons including old age, hormonal imbalances, stress etc. Hair fall can be treated in most cases as long as the trigger has first been identified. This can be done with the help of lab tests. Some of the common reasons for hair fall are:

  1. Hereditary hair loss or androgenetic alopecia: Inheriting this gene from either parent can cause hair loss but the risk of hair loss is much higher if you have inherited the gene from both parents. This type of hair loss is marked by thinning that begins in the forehead region and gradually spreads across the scalp. Examining the pattern of hair loss is the first step to determining whether your hair loss is caused by genetic reasons. A biopsy of the scalp may also be required.
  2. Thyroid irregularities: The underproduction or overproduction of hormones by the thyroid gland can affect the rate at which the body metabolises oxygen and energy for the growth of skin cells, nails and hair leading to hair loss and other problems. In the case of hypothyroidism, hair loss is likely to be accompanied by weight gain, constipation, tiredness and depression. On the other hand, hair loss that is accompanied by drastic weight loss, nervousness, diarrhoea and weakened muscles is likely to be caused by hyperthyroidism. Between the two, hypothyroidism is more commonly responsible for hair loss. A simple blood test that measures the levels of thyroid stimulating hormones in your body can be used to determine whether your hair loss is caused by thyroid irregularities.
  3. Anaemia: A deficiency of iron in the body can result in inadequate red blood cells to transport oxygen through the body. This lack of oxygen translates to a lack of nutrients for hair growth and can result in brittle hair and hair fall. A deficiency of iron in the body can be tested with a blood test.
  4. Telogen effluvium: Hair fall that is experienced 2 to 3 months after a stressful event is likely to have been caused by telogen effluvium. This is a phenomenon that causes hair to move faster than normal from the growing phase to the resting and shedding phase. There are no specific tests that can be used to determine this phenomenon.
