This is an infection which is most commonly spread through a parasite roundworm known as Enterobius Vermicularis. This is also known as the human pinworm. If the patient ingests food or water that is contaminated with the eggs of this worm, then this disease may manifest. The incubation period is usually a month or two.
HOW IS ENTEROBIASIS DIAGNOSED?
Diagnosis of Enterobiasis is based on finding of eggs or adult pinworms. A low power microscope reveals individual eggs. General physicians apply a scotch tape to the anal area to pick up worms for examination
HOW IS ENTEROBIASIS TREATED?
Medication is the best treatment method for treating Enterobiasis. There is a high chance of recurrence of the infection, irrespective of the drug used. The medication must be chosen as per the individual in order to avoid side effects. Home treatments like use of garlic in the diet are known to treat Enterobiasis.
