Carvedilol

Prescription vs OTC : Prescription by Doctor required

About Carvedilol

Carvedilol is an alpha and a beta-blocker used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. After a heart attack, it is used to improve your chance of survival if your heart does not pump well. It also helps in preventing kidney problems, strokes and heart attacks. Carvedilol blocks the beta receptors in the heart muscle, making them less responsive to stress hormones. It also blocks alpha receptors on blood vessels which dilates them, lowering blood pressure and vascular resistance.

This medicine is not recommended for children and for diabetic patients, a serious heart condition, liver, kidney or lung disease. You should not take Carvedilol if you are allergic to it or if you have a history of other allergies.
