Treatment of frozen shoulder

Treatment of frozen shoulder
Treatment of frozen shoulder varies depending on the stage it is at, and how severe is the pain and stiffness. There is no outright cure and the aim of treatment is to keep the joint as mobile as possible. The most effective treatment is that which maintains a good range of movement until the shoulder starts to heal.

Treatment may Include the following:

1. Shoulder exercises: Regular, gentle exercise can help to keep the shoulder joint mobile. If your shoulder is very stiff, exercise may hurt, and it should only be carried out with the guidance of your doctor or physiotherapist. If you are able to, continue using your shoulder as normal saving' the shoulder can cause the muscle to waste and may make stiffness worse.
2. Painkillers: Over-the-counter painkillers such as paracetamol or prescription-only drugs such as codeine may be taken to ease pain and you should discuss this with your general physician or pharmacist.
3. Anti-inflammatory painkillers: Such as ibuprofen and diclofenac, are often prescribed to ease pain and inflammation. Any medication that you take should be discussed with your general physician or pharmacist.
4. Steroid injections into or near the shoulder joint may be effective at relieving pain and inflammation for a few weeks. However, injections are not a cure, and symptoms may return.

I have pain in lower back and left buttock from last 1 month. I am able to move and work normally but a burning pain still exists. What can be the possible cause What is the intensity of pain? Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana -- Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily.

Hello Dr, I am 22 year old male. I do swimming, jogging regularly. Apparently I've stopped all of my physical activities for the past 1 month because I've started getting lower back stiffness, to get rid of that, I need to break knuckles at that part regardless of anything like TIME, place etc. By doing this regularly I've started getting Lower back pain for the past few weeks. My mom is a known patient of osteoporosis, so urging myself I went to take DEXA for determining my bone mineral density, result was AP SPINE L1-L4 MEAN DENSITY OF 0.946gm/cm² corresponding to a t score of - 2.3.Dual femur mean density of 0.916gm/cm²,corresponding to a t score of - 1.3.I Consulted some physicians here, they are carelessly saying that I'm perfectly fine by considering my age, mean while other one is saying that I've not attained my peak bone density growth. I'm a medical student, having few knowledge I don't know what to believe and what not to believe. I'll be so thankful if someone tell me what exactly is happening in my body. And my body fat percentage is 37%that means I need to put myself in obese category, but my hip size is jus 34 inch and I've never felt I'm over weighted person. Please help me doctors.

Hi arun! I could see a healthy champ that you exercise regularly. Your age and healthy lifestyle won't let you down. No worries please. You just think about the activities that you have done before the exact pain started like heavy weight lift, jump from height, sudden fall. If your back pain is the same or severing from the time it started you may be repeatedly injuring the spot which is the source of pain. Please note the time you get severe pain in a day, how it gets reduced with position and time, what movements are possible and not possible in your back because pain, check for change in sleeping surface (like change in bed), sleeping position, amount of workload or work time you spend in a day. After noting all these aspects consult a qualified physiotherapist he/she may help in finding the cause and treatment.

I fell from two wheeler. This is my MRI report "Area of PDFS and STIR hyperintensity is seen in the anterior and lateral aspect of head of humerus extending into the neck with chip fracture of the greater tuberosity. Dear sir Upper limb fracture healing usually takes 4to6 weeks So you need not worry it will go .u can still take precautions by by lifting weights from this side, jerky movement to be avoided n don't sleep on this side Take calcium rich source for better healing.

Do hot fomentation twice daily. Postural correction- always sit with a small pillow at your low back. Sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises like bridging and bhujang asana x twice daily. Sleep on your back with a pillow under your knees or on your sides with a pillow between your knees. And get vit d levels checked. Go for regular walks follow 30-30 rule when at work. After every 30 min of work. Do 30 sec of stretching or stand and walk a bit.

I am a 35 years male have a problem swollen feet and knee pain and have regular pain below left chest sometime just below chest back side and sometime below right chest and now this are days my forehead use to be heaviness most of the time, before five year back I suffer from malaria twice in one year, within eight months gap, after that my stomach use get bloated several times I consult with with my doctor he ask me to take small meals in one hour gap not to eat to much at a time after few months every things was ok but in the year 2015 mid of june I felt sick, that was my first day I went to gym for physical fitness after doing a work out for half an hour or forty five minutes I was on my way back to my flat but suddenly my forehead was spinning I was getting unconscious my eyes was not visualized properly like heavy lights white and feeling vomote any how with the help of security I went to my flat and felt sleep then next day I went to a doctor and he advice for total blood test, the blood test reports were showing positive jaundice. Uric acid. Cholesterol. Alkaline phosphatase high. Uria creatinine. And hbv positive. Then doctor prescribed medicine for three months with a routine check-up after three months again doing all blood test report are showing everything was normal only usg report was showing liver is enlarge, doctor prescribed medicine for two more months with routine check-up everything was fine good, but again now this are days I am facing the problem like my feet are getting swollen stomach is getting bloated I am not feeling sleepy and not feeling hungry and getting pain again sometime below left chest and right chest below also and same table back sometime lower abdominal left and sometime getting senseless foots and hands forehead getting heavyness eyes are getting dizziness. Please doctor help me.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Heel pain is normally due to inflammation of an underlying fascia called as plantar fascia. If there is no swelling or any other sign of inflammation, I will advise you: - ice packs intensively 3-4 times in a day - footwear modification ( try to wear sports or well cushioned shoes only) - short course of anti-inflammatory medication - physical therapy like heel, ankle stretch ex and eccentric ex to be done under supervision of a physotherapist. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

Last month I felt on my hands, since then my both angels are paining, it pains occasionally, the pain goes and comes. My hand gets warm when it pains and from some days my left hand thumb with middle finger is PAINING. I feel like my thumb is locked.
