Super Fact of the Day: Love is indeed a drug!

Super Fact of the Day: Love is indeed a drug!
You must have often wondered why being in love causes you to lose appetite and sleep? well apparently, the human brain when in love, releases the same neurotransmitters and hormones that are released while consuming amphetamines (illegal drugs used as mood stimulants). This causes intense feelings of excitement and loss of hunger and sleep, especially when the cupid hits you with his arrow!

Would you like to share this interesting fact with family or friends? go ahead and share!

My daughter is married since 6 years. She had conceived in 2013, but it was Empty Sach and hence laparoscopy was done. Also the ovarian cyst was removed. Later on, the cyst was found when scanned, as she was not conceived. Now after home treatment ,one of her Ovary is almost clear, while the other is still having cyst, though reduced. Gynac Doctor suggested ,you can try as one ovary is clear and ovulation is from alternate ovaries by cycle. How to confirm the proper ovulation from clear ovary now so that attempt can be made without anxiety in the prospective ovulation cycle. What Is the cause of empty sach--due to sperm mobility/strength or weak ovum?

DNB - Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Noida
You have given qn incomplete information but still I will try and answer to best of what I can make out. Well she is married for 6 years and has not conceived since the last abortion in 2013. An ovarian cyst has been removed for her you have not provided her age as well. It would be best that they visit a fertility expert who can evaluate her ovarian reserve as with even the best surgeons ovarian surgeries reduce that. Also that they evaluate her tubes and husband semen test is also done.

Care before Pregnancy (Pre-conceptional Care)

Care before Pregnancy (Pre-conceptional Care)
Most of us have an idea that the couple should go to gynecologist only after they fall pregnant or when there is difficulty in conceiving. But we all know that prevention is better than cure. Then why should not we take precaution to avoid complications in pregnancy so that we can have healthy mother and healthy baby.

Some of the diseases can manifest during pregnancy, like some diseases of heart, blood pressure, blood sugar etc. But if the couple comes to doctor when they are planning pregnancy, then we can diagnose it and start treatment so that pregnancy can be safe to both the mother and the baby.

On the other hand, some pre-existing disease may turn serious during pregnancy and endanger life of both mother and baby. This includes thyroid disease, hypertension, epilepsy, renal disease, cardiac disease etc. If taken care of properly, the disease can be controlled before pregnancy so that the risk can be reduced. Again all the drugs are not safe for the baby. So, if treated before pregnancy, the mother can be put on safer but effective drugs before pregnancy.

Some diseases may run in family and often goes undetected and can affect the baby. Thlassaemia, hemophilia etc are the best examples. So, if the couple comes to us before pregnancy, we can screen them to diagnose whether they are bearer of the disease or not and then we can take care to prevent birth of defective baby.

Some diseases indicate that there may be problems in having pregnancy, like problems in periods or abdominal pain in female, sexual problems in male and female etc. If treated properly, it will avoid unnecessary time wastage for trying for pregnancy.

The woman can be instructed how to remain healthy to have normal baby, before pregnancy. She can be advised some drugs (like folic acid), can be asked to avoid harmful drugs and substances (like drugs, excessive vitamin a, excessive vitamin d, excessive caffeine, smoking etc). Even the husband can be asked how to improve his fertility (by avoiding heat exposure to his scrotum).

Again some infections can be dangerous for the baby. So, before pregnancy we can treat the women for the infections and in some cases we can vaccinate her to prevent infection.

"a stitch in time saves nine. So, why don't you consult your gynecologist when you are planning for pregnancy? have smooth journey throughout pregnancy and enjoy parenthood.

Dear lybrate user. I can understand. Soft vagina is a blessing in many ways because it is elastic and can accommodate even large penis. I suggest never to indulge in continuous sex more than twice. Breast size depends on many factors and your age. Penis size cannot be increased. Therefore be happy with what you have. Take care.

I'm 21. Stopped bc pills a year ago. Caught shingles and flu last month. Started the same the day as the the first day of my period. Period stopped 2 days after coming. Never returned. Due again this month, 3 days ago. Still haven't come. Feels like it on or coming, but it's not here. Not pregnant. Please help?

Hello, if you have started on the birth control again since last month then you are not pregnant for sure and should actually wait in all 7 days to allow the withdrawal bleed to occur. As you are already experiencing symptoms so you should be patient and wait for menses to return naturally.

During pregnancy this kind of discolouration is common. It is due to hormonal changes and after delivery it will go away. Baby will be safe, don't worry.

After reaching a certain age, a woman? s ovaries stop making eggs and there is less production of hormones like estrogen and progesterone that regulate menstruation and fertility. Gradually, menstrual cycles become irregular and eventually stop. Menopause is confirmed when a woman has no period for 12 consecutive months this process normally happens between ages 45 and 55 but some women can even enter menopause before age 40. At times, menopause can be triggered by medical procedures, such as a hysterectomy, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, or primary ovarian insufficiency condition. Home remedies are apple cider vinegar is a popular folk remedy to beat menopause symptoms. Raw and unfiltered apple cider vinegar is effective in reducing the incidence and intensity of hot flashes and night sweats, two of the most common symptoms of menopause. 1. Mix one to two tablespoons of unfiltered apple cider vinegar in a glass of water. 2. Drink this tonic in the morning to help remove toxins and regulate hormones more queries consult me.

5 Ways to Monitor and Care for Your Health During Pregnancy

5 Ways to Monitor and Care for Your Health During Pregnancy

Pregnancy brings with it a new set of additional responsibilities. The mother has to be extra vigilant about monitoring and caring for her health. This ensures that sufficient nutrition is being provided to the growing infant, at the same time, ensuring no harm comes through you. Listed below are some simple ways to do the same.

  1. Prenatal care: As soon as you realize that you are pregnant, it is advisable to talk to a doctor or a midwife about proper prenatal care. This could include anything and everything from prenatal vitamins to food habits to exercise to sleeping habits to periodic scanning – the whole hog.
  2. Diet: You need to ensure two things: that you are eating enough for two people, and also that everything is healthy and not harmful for the little one that gets all its nutrition through you. The diet should be healthy, nutritious, wholesome, and of course free of junk. Some pointers to a healthy diet include:
    • Include a good amount of fruits and vegetables every day; break it into five small portions.
    • Sufficient amount of carbohydrates should be the basis of each meal.
    • Whole grains are preferred to white grains, which also give good amount of fiber.
    • A good amount of proteins including fish, eggs, meat, nuts, pulses, milk, and other dairy products.
    • Ensure adequate amount of iron, calcium, and other minerals are included in the diet.
    • Avoid eating non-pasteurized dairy products, uncooked or undercooked food, and smoked seafood.
    • Folic acid is compulsory for the first trimester as it helps to protect your unborn baby from developing neural tube defects such as spina bifida. Also, it helps to prevent other birth defects, such as a cleft palate .
  3. Weight gain: If your weight was normal for your age and height before pregnancy, expect to add about 12 to 15 kg during your pregnancy. Consult with your doctor on weight changes and nutritional aspects to monitor weight throughout pregnancy. This could change based on if it is twins, your weight before pregnancy, and body type.
  4. Exercise: There are specific exercises designed to benefit the pregnant women. Whether it is walking or swimming aimed at improving overall health or Kegel exercises aimed at improving vaginal and perineal muscles, your doctor should be able to draw up a routine. Exercising while pregnancy is being increasingly encouraged for the following reasons:
    • Improved energy levels
    • Controls back pain
    • Improved sleep pattern
    • Improves constipation
    • Improves muscles strength and endurance
  5. Lifestyle changes: With pregnancy setting in, it is time to bid goodbye to smoking and drinking alcohol. Continued smoking after onset of pregnancy has many serious complications, including growth retardation, low birth weight. Alcohol can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, and premature delivery.

These are simple ways to monitor and care for your and of course, the baby’s health throughout pregnancy.

In some cases doctor can turn the baby by physical pressure but probably it is late now. If does not turn by delivery it is safer to deliver by caesarean operation though accepting higher risk for baby can be deliverd from vagina.

My cousin's wife is very weak in sex she is not interested in sex they have no child. Any pill of sex increase please suggest.?

Advanced Aesthetics
Ayurveda, Gulbarga
When a woman's not interested in sex? and would like to be? it may have something to do with her relationship, her upbringing, or something else in her experience, but there could also be a medical explanation. For instance: 1. Reduced blood flow diabetes and high blood pressure are among the health problems that can restrict genital blood flow. 2. Hormonal issues menopause, breast-feeding, birth control pills, and thyroid problems can dampen sexual desire. 3. Medication side effects antidepressants and chemotherapy agents such as tamoxifen are frequently to blame. Approaching menopause, she stopped wanting sex more about women and sex? medical reasons for low sex drive? psychological reasons for low sex drive? answers about women's sex problems? the female dysfunction debate 4. Nerve damage pelvic surgery can cause nerve damage, as can diseases such as multiple sclerosis or parkinson's. Other reasons for low desire might include lack of sleep or depression. Talk to a doctor or sex therapist if you have low desire, get checked out by your primary care doctor. Whether or not he or she finds a physical problem, a consultation with a certified sex therapist can be helpful, because physical sex problems usually create a psychological or relationship issue, as well" it's usually not just one thing" says marjorie green, md, director of the mount auburn female sexual medicine center in cambridge, mass, and a clinical instructor at harvard medical school. On the other hand, if you feel your lack of desire is a physical issue and your primary care doctor is not able or willing to help, you may want to consult a sexual medicine specialist.

What are the primary symptoms of 1 month pregnancy. Periods are late in 1 week from last month, it's a critical or not? How we will try to forcedly call the periods by take medicine or something else?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Missing period is the most important symptom. To confirm you should get urine pregnancy test done at home and if negative keep repeating every week till menses comes. Apart from that nausea and vomiting and breast fullness will start exactly after 1 month of intercourse or 15 days of missed period.

Hi lybrate-user, Its normal to put on weight especially around belly and waist during pregnancy. Do not worry, it is possible to get rid of pregnancy weight and gain your confidence again. There are two pillars for weight loss. Diet and exercise. Although right diet can control further weight gain and assure overall health, exercise is must for weight reduction. 30 mins walk (to start with), with well-balanced diet (depending on your health condition) can lead to gradual and healthy weight loss. Workout, eat well, be patient. Your body will reward you. I would be happy to help you. Please consult me privately so that I can understand your problem in detail and device a diet plan for you.
