Dear Lybrate User, you may have come across a number of gimmicking advertisement of medicines which claim to decrease body weight in a very short time. Do not fall prey for such advertisement because the excess weight would not be shredded until each & every underlying cause of being overweight is diagnosed & treated. The basic role behind the process of accumulation of fat in human body is played by Metabolism. Metabolism is the set of life-sustaining chemical transformations within the cells of living organisms. The three main purposes of metabolism are the conversion of food/fuel to energy to run cellular processes, the conversion of food/fuel to building blocks for proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, and some carbohydrates, and the elimination of nitrogenous wastes. Accumulation of fat indicates that a considerable amount of the calories which you are taking daily is not used up by the body & is stored as fat. In order to lose the excess fat you need to increase your rate of metabolism. Once your rate of metabolism or BMR is increased your body will use up the excess calories stored as fat in your body. First of all you need to rule out the possibility of the presence of any hormonal disturbance that may be affecting your metabolism. Just conduct a total Thyroid profile test of all your blood (also Serum Testosterone level in case of males). If the reports are within normal limits then you should proceed further to increase your metabolism. If you find any abnormalities in the report you should immediately consult a doctor. Now, Let me explain another widely discussed yet controversial topic behind losing weight i.e Dieting. It is a myth that weight loss is impossible without dieting. However, I disagree with that myth personally. You have to fulfill the basic caloric demand of your body to perform your daily activities. That means you have to eat as a normal person & also eat at a certain interval. In fact I have seen many people who take little amount food after fasting for 6-7 hours & they believe that they are Dieting. In fact keeping your stomach empty for a considerable long time will decrease the rate of metabolism & also increase the risk of gastric problems in an individual. Staying hungry for a considerable long time produces the release of Cortisol Hormone in the body. This Cortisol hormone is an emergency hormone & it identifies the absence of food as an emergency situation. Thus it lowers the rate of metabolism to stop the breakdown of fat in order to conserve the calories present inside the body. Moreover, when you stay hungry for a considerable long time your body starts to burn fat initially but after a certain stage it starts burning the muscle fibres thus resulting in muscle waste which leads to weakness & loss of stamina.

Add 1spoon honey and chawanprash in morning and evening and have 2 cups of milk wth almonds kishmish banana in morning and evening. Avoid fry spicy junk food and aerated drinks and do 30mints of exercise in the day avoid excess salt and spices. Do deep breathing 5times inhale exhale from left nostril than same from right nostril.

I don't know who you are talking about when you say, 'when she come in front of me'. If you lose control are you suggesting that you act out sexually in the open?! All this is happening because of your indulging in those thoughts. These thoughts then feed into an impulse where you lose control. You must channelize your sexual energy with healthy sporting activities and exercise. You must meet your girlfriend in front of other people to let the social control take over your feelings. You must also learn to respect girls and not see them as sexual objects. A good sex education from a sexologist or counselor will certainly help you to see the different dimensions of sex and sexuality. In late adolescence you would have gone through a spurt in the production of the male sex hormone, testosterone and I believe that you have not developed sufficient control and learnt how to harness this very important drive to conform to social norms. A good education will certainly help you.

Hi,your height can grow till 25 years of age. If you haven't yet reached the age, you may try the following remedies - 1. Take flax seed powder - 1 tablespoon after lunch and dinner with warm water. 2. Take lakshadi guggul - 2 tablets, twice a day. 3. Take ashwgandha churna - 1 tablespoon with milk at 6.30 pm. Also follow these exercises daily - 1. Swimming 2. Skipping 3. Pull-ups 4. Suryanamaskar.

Hye, thanks for the query. You need to understand that you are diabetic and are looking to plan pregnancy. Your body is not receiving the energy it needs and you also need to maintain good nutrition for the coming baby. So crashing your intake or trying to follow some weight loss plan will not help. You need to have a well planned diet to maintain blood glucose levels as well as maintain nutrition for the pregnancy. As for belly fat, a sensible diet will help. For a diabetic it is best advised to have a diet planned as per the sugar levels, lifestyle and history. Though you can follow some guidelines - the sugar levels will fluctuate depending on what you ate or did not eat, stress levels and activity levels. You have to try and manage a balanced carb intake. Have small frequent meals. Do not fast for long hours. You have to eat 3 main and 3 mid meals. Your diet must include whole grains, seasonal fruits, vegetables, small amounts of nuts and dairy and pulses or dals or lean meats like chicken or fish and egg. Starchy vegetables need to be planned into the diet. Avoid a very heavy meal at one time. Avoid fruit juices, aerated drinks or sugarcane juice, honey, jaggery or sugar. Avoid junk foods. Exercise and stay active. Avoid exercise if sugar levels are above 250 mg/dl. Do not attempt to try out too many remedies as you could go into hypoglycaemia. Sleep well. It's all a matter of discipline.

Take care of your hair: *take nutritious healthy food. *have regular vigorous physical exercises, so that blood circulation reaches the hair follicles and nourishes the hair. *avoid mental stress and smoking and such unhealthy habits. *have adequate rest and timely sleep. You may have limitations because of your profession, but stick to it as far as possible. *use warm or cold water for bathing and not very hot water. *hard water is harmful. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. For emergency treatment contact your nearest hospital or family doctor. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Use elastic knee support.

Hye, thanks for the query. Being underweight can be a concern if it's the result of poor nutrition. Here are some healthy ways to gain weight when you're underweight: eat more frequently. When you're underweight, you may feel full faster. Eat five to six smaller meals during the day rather than two or three large meals. Choose nutrient-rich foods. As part of an overall healthy diet, choose whole-grain breads, rice and cereals; fruits and vegetables; dairy products; lean protein sources; and nuts. Don't fill up on diet soda, coffee and other drinks with few calories and little nutritional value. Instead, drink smoothies or healthy shakes. Snack on nuts, dried fruits and fresh fruits. Even when you're underweight, be mindful of excess sugar and fat. An occasional slice of cake or ice cream is fine. But most sweets should be healthy and provide nutrients in addition to calories. Sheera, lassi and chikki are good choices. Exercise, especially strength training, can help you gain weight by building up your muscles. Exercise may also stimulate your appetite.

Dear, To control & maintan BP normal these are best methods to follow:.• Do physical exercise like jogging, running or brisk walk for atleast 20-30 minutes. • Maintain your cholesterol level to normal & eat least amount of butter, cream or fatty things. • Eat less amount of pickle, salt and fast food as they contain high sodium levels. • Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking. • Take less amount of caffine containing coffee, tea or cold drinks because caffine causes increase BP. • Drink 8 to 10 glass of water daily • Take 6 to 8 hrs of sleep daily. Do not take too much stress. • Do long breathing pranayams (Anulom- Vilom, Bhramari) daily for 10 - 15 minutes. It will reduce your stress level in your body. • Eat healthy diet such as green leafy vegetables, fruits. • Take 5 ml of GULAB Jal added in a glass of water daily once a day.
