It also acts as a cationic detergent and disrupts the bacterial cell membrane. This results in oozing out of the cell constituent and lysis of the organism. Lastly, it attaches irreversibly to a total of four nucleotides of 16S rRNA and one protein S12 amino acid. This causes interference when it comes to decoding the site.
