An occupational therapist's aim is to provide the client with skills for the job of living- those mandatory to function in the community or in the client's chosen occupation.
WHEN SHOULD YOU CONSULT OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST?
Occupational therapists help clients rehabilitate after injuries or during old age by helping them regain their daily lives, assessing and modifying their homes to improve mobility and accessibility and by teaching the client and their caretakers how to use equipment (such as wheelchairs) to facilitate normal functioning.
WHAT IS THE ROLE OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST?
Occupational therapists work with people with mental illness or emotional problems or with developmental disabilities to teach them skills such as managing time and using public transportation, and helping them cope with and engage in daily activities.
COMMON PROBLEMS YOU SHOULD SEE OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST FOR
Occupational therapists may help clients create functional work environments by evaluating and suggesting modifications for the workplace and by collaborating with the client's employer to make changes to the client's environment and/or schedule.
