Hand Pain could be caused due to a number of reasons, Tendinitis or the pain to the thumb side of the wrist can be caused due to repetitive actions or activities. Carpal tunnel syndrome causes pain to the palm and some fingers, wrist and forearm. Age related disorders such as arthritis can also cause hand pain.
HOW IS HAND PAIN DIAGNOSED?
A physical examination with enquiries about the medical history would help in assessing and determining the cause of the hand pain. Certain imaging and lab tests might be suggested to confirm the diagnosis.
HOW IS HAND PAIN TREATED?
Depending on the cause of the hand pain, the discomfort can be treated by wearing a splint to rest the fingers or in case of a fracture and orthopaedic might put a cast. Anti-inflammatory medications might be prescribed to cope with pain. Physical therapy and surgery could also be used as treatment.
