About Vancomycin

Vancomycin acts as an antibiotic which kills bacteria present in the intestine. Thus, it treats bacterial infection, especially infections that are occur because of clostridium difficile. The drug also helps in the treatment of staph infections which can result in swelling of the colon as well as small intestines.

The drug should be taken orally to cure infections of the intestine. Vancomycin is not otherwise absorbed by the body and cannot be taken orally for the treatment of any other kind of infection. Injections of the drug are administered if it is used to treat infections affecting other parts of the body.
