About Risedronate

Risedronate is a medicine for treatment and cure of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a type of bone disease which results in bone loss and makes them thinner and easily breakable. The medicine strengthens the bones and treat Pagets disease as well. It is usually administered orally, and doses have long gaps between them. Osteoporosis is more common in older people, and women who have gone through menopause. Risedronate slows down bone loss, and it belongs to the class of drugs called bisphosphonates.

Any esophageal problem, difficulty in swallowing of food, low blood calcium levels which is known as hypocalcemia or any other severe kidney, stomach and intestine disorders must be communicated to the doctor before the medication of Risedronate starts. The dentist should be informed about this medicine before any dental procedure is done on the patient.

Upset stomach is one of the most common side effects of this disease which may even lead to diarrhea. Rare side effects like increase in joint pain, muscle pain, vision blurring etc may also be noticed. This medication should only be taken under doctor’s supervision.
