About Coscopin Syrup

Coscopin Syrup is primarily prescribed for the treatment of dry cough. It dilutes the mucus in the nose and windpipe, making it easier to expel out while coughing.

Coscopin syrup is a multi-drug composition containing Noscapine, Ammonium Chloride, Sodium Citrate. All these belong to the drug class of antitussive, antihistamine, expectorant and mucolytic respectively, which means that it is a cough suppressant and used to treat patients suffering from cough.

This medication is contraindicated to pregnant women (as it could cause harm to the fetus) and to patients that have had an allergic reaction to this medication or to any of its components in the past.

Individuals with a history of kidney problems, heart disorders, lung diseases, asthma, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, glaucoma, hypertension and allergic reactions should not use this medication.

    Coscopin Syrup belongs to the class of drugs known as an antitussive, which is a cough suppressant that relieves cough by reducing the activity of the cough centre in the brain. It contains Ammonium Chloride, Noscapine and Sodium Citrate as working ingredients. Ammonium chloride decreases the stickiness of mucus (phlegm) and helps in its removal from the airways. Sodium citrate thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out.
