The condition in which there is an inflammation of the pharynx found at the back of the throat is referred to as Pharyngitis. It is a condition where one experiences extreme pain in the back of the neck followed with trouble swallowing. HOW IS PHARYNGITIS DIAGNOSED?
The ear-nose-throat specialist may examine your throat and check for any grey or white patches, swelling and redness. The doctor may also check for swollen lymph nodes. If the doctor suspects strep throat then he may order for a throat culture. If he suspects other types of Pharyngitis, then he may order for blood test
HOW IS PHARYNGITIS TREATED?
Usually there is no treatment required for this problem but a dose of antibiotics is given to such patients. Usually doctors suggest home remedies here that include drinking warm fluids and soups. The doctors also advise doing gargle with hot water and using oral hygiene products like mouthwashes.
