About Telpres Am 40 Tablet

This medication is composed of Telmisartan, Amlodipine and belongs to a class of drugs that are used to treat high blood pressure. It is also effective in reducing the risk of serious conditions such as stroke, heart attacks and other heart conditions. The medicine helps maintain optimal blood pressure levels in a person’s body.

The drug by widening and dilating the blood vessels, which relaxes them. It also helps the kidney flush out excess salt and water, thus reducing the blood pressure. Therefore, this medicine is highly effective in treating hypertension.

    How does this medication work?

    The drug displaces angiotensin II with very high affinity from its binding site at the AT1 receptor subtype, which is responsible for the known actions of angiotensin II. It also works by inhibiting the entry of calcium into the cardiac and vascular smooth muscles and prevents the contraction of the muscles and thereby reduces the blood pressure.
