Pulmonary fibrosis is a condition where the lung tissue is scarred or damaged. This damaged or thickened tissue builds with time thereby interfering with normal respiration. There are multiple factors that could lead to pulmonary fibrosis. The damage is irreparable and hence, it needs to be dealt with appropriately. Here are certain tips that can help deal with pulmonary fibrosis.

1. Exercise-
Do not start with major exercises right away as this could cause you to run out of breath and strain your body. A small routine comprising of simple exercises or light jogging can certainly help. Doing this on a regular basis will allow you to feel a healthy difference in your breathing.

2. Diet-
Creating a diet chart might be easy but the difficult part is sticking to it. Make sure that you plan a diet that is not very complex to maintain and follow. It is important to consume good amounts of proteins and Vitamin D. Increase your water intake and avoid junk food as much as possible. If you can, consider adding fish to your diet.

3. Breathing-
Since pulmonary fibrosis largely affects your lungs, it causes major breathing problems. Hence, it is important that you regularly follow certain breathing exercises. It is advisable to keep a track of your breath. Consult a doctor for suggested breathing exercises or try some on your own to decide which ones are the most comfortable for you.

4. Meditation-
While some people, especially the youth, may consider meditation a waste of time, it is one of the best ways for steady respiration. If your mind is calm, so is your breathing. Meditation does not mean chanting words or reading mantras. It simply means to be one with yourself. Meditation is the key to keep your mind at peace. You just need 10-15 minutes each day, with your own thoughts, and you can see the difference yourself.

5. Vaccinations and medications-
All the above methods can be practiced on your own. They are safe and you need not necessarily consult a doctor or a physician for following them. However, there are certain vaccinations or medications that can be considered in case the symptoms of pulmonary fibrosis go out of hand. It is recommended to consult your doctor to know more about these options.

In addition to all these tips, it is most important to surround yourself with positive, caring people who can help you anytime and anywhere. Having moral support can help you fight through the toughest times. Although it is difficult to get completely rid of pulmonary fibrosis, the above tips can help you maintain a healthy lifestyle and deal with it better.
