Eczema is said to be a common skin condition in which inflamed and itchy patches are found on the skin. Its other name is dermatitis. It is mostly found in small infants and children of age between 1 to 15 years old. Sometimes it has been noticed that it also appears on the elbows and behind the knees of children, teenagers and adults.

CAUSES

In the present time the doctor's view is that eczema is caused by a lethal combination of factors which includes genetics in a human body, activities that may cause our skin to be more responsive towards eczema, the defects in the skin barrier which allows moisture out and germs inside of our body. Some examples of irritants are- soaps, perfume, cosmetics, chlorine, dust, sand, solvents, cigarette smokes etc.

SYMPTOMS

It is believed that the symptoms of eczema vary according to the age of the person suffering from the condition. The rashes commonly appear on creases of the elbows, at the back of the knees or on the nape of the neck. It is very itchy and can cause dry skin. The portion of the affected skin by eczema depends on how much a person is scratching the infected area. More a person scratches the infected portion, the larger the area affected by eczema.

DIAGNOSIS

For the identification of eczema no lab test is required. By scrutinising your skin and evaluating your medical history the doctor will make the diagnosis. He/she may also use the process of patch testing or other tests to eliminate other skin diseases or identify the conditions that co- occur with eczema. If you notice a rash on the child's body after having a meal then you must quickly tell the doctor and ask about identifying some potential food allergies that are infectious to your child's body.

SOME NATURAL REMEDIES TO REDUCE THE SYMPTOMS OF ECZEMA:-

  • Yogurt - For treating the eczema of babies give them two cups of yoghurt or gently apply it on the infected area of the baby. It will keep their body cool and prevent eczema.
  • OLIVE OIL - Rub on the infected skin with extra virgin olive oil. Another thing you can try is that you have to take a hot hygienic cloth and place it over the infected area. Just leave it on the area until the cloth becomes cool. And afterwards remove the leftover oil with lukewarm water. You have to carry out this process once or twice in a day until the eczema scar completely vanishes from the skin.
  • COCONUT OIL - To keep the affected area moisturised apply some coconut oil, it will not only decrease the symptoms of eczema but will also soothe and relax your skin.
  • OATMEAL - Grind one to two cups of oatmeal in a grinder. Add this grinded oatmeal to warm bathing water and immerse yourself in it. After 20 to 30 minutes use a soft and clean towel to dry up your body. Just repeat these procedures three times a day.
  • ALOEVERA - Mix vitamin- E oil in the pure aloe vera gel in equal parts and prepare a thin paste and just apply it on the eczema scars and leave it untouched for the whole night. Next morning you have to clean it with warm water or else you can simply apply aloe vera gel directly on the infected skin. Do this a couple of times everyday until all the scars vanish.
  • APPLE CIDER VINEGAR - Take a glass of water and mix two teaspoons in it. Firstly take a spoon of  raw honey and then  raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar. Drink this prepared solution to get rid of eczema or else you can also mix equal quantities of water and vinegar and apply it directly on the affected area to lessen the dryness and itchiness of the skin.
  • HONEY - You have to wash your affected skin rigorously and just apply the layer of honey daily on the skin. You can often try scrubbing by preparing a scrub using crystallised sugar and honey. Do scrubbing with this mixture softly on your skin twice a day. Wash out your face and follow this procedure at least once a week.
  • TURMERIC - It is believed that turmeric is the best cure for almost all types of skin problems. You can make paste by combining turmeric with olive oil. Apply the paste on the skin and let it sit for half an hour.
