Thinning of hair is a common problem among many and the desire to reverse hair loss is normal, but there is so much information about hair fall that it sometimes becomes difficult to fish out the credible ones. Here are some most common hair thinning myths that you need to know.

Myth#1 Brushing causes hair fall
This is one of the most common myths regarding hair loss. The moment people notice that their hair is thinning, they tend to reduce their number of hair washes and combing. This actually does not help with the issue at all and it also exaggerates the thinning because once a week wash will lead to 500 to 600 fallen strands. Regular hair wash will cause less hair fall each time and it is also healthy to keep your scalp clean to promote growth.

Myth#2 Color treatment causes hair fall
Any kind of treatment is fine as long as it does not hurt. Pain indicates that the follicles have been damaged. Hair extensions are likely to cause permanent damage because they pull on the hair, which might break the barrier that protects the follicles from bacteria. This can lead to dead follicles or alteration in the texture of the hair.

Myth#3 A lot of hair in your bathroom means your hair is thinning

It does not necessarily mean you will be experiencing thinning of hair anytime soon. Sudden hair fall may be caused due to lots of reasons, one of them being a vitamin deficiency. Consider visiting a healthcare professional to determine the cause and pursue a suitable treatment and that should lead your growth cycle right on track.

Myth#4 It all depends on your maternal grandfather's hair density
Gene does play an important role in how your hair sustains but it depends on either side of the family. Your larger family may have beautiful voluminous hair and still you might suffer from hair loss. In general, it has been noticed that if the family does not have hair problems, one is less likely to incur them.
