I was trying a menstrual cup and it didn't open on insertion. So I tried to open it up with the help of my index finger and moved it around the base of the cup to make room for it to expand. That's when I heard a cracking sound. Now my period is over (day 6) but I still have mild cramping in the groin area and in my lower back. I am not sexually active. Hence, there was a lot of resistance. Could I have broken something?
Menstrual cups are safe with proper use. They have similar potential dangers to tampons, such as infection, though the risk of these is low.
