How does this medication work?
This syrup contains an agent ambroxol that causes diffusion of thick mucus. Uncontrolled quantity of nitric oxide (NO) is related to inflammation and other kinds of disruptions of the functioning of the airways. Viscodyne Syrup inhibits the activation of guanylate cyclase which is nitric oxide dependent. Desloratidine selectively inhibits the peripheral H1 receptors thereby reducing the histamine levels in the body. It specifically acts on allergies caused in the skin, blood vessels and airways leading to the lung. Guaifenesin is an expectorant which reduces adhesiveness and surface tension of congealed mucous in upper respiratory tract to increase flow of mucous, stimulating and increasing efficiency of the cilia to remove the accumulated mucous. And lastly, menthol works by triggering the TRPM8 receptors in the skin that are cold-sensitive. It does that by blocking calcium currents of the neuronal membrane. Through kappa-opoid receptor agonism, it can also produce analgesic characteristics.
