My Heart Rate is always above 100 is it good or bad? What can I do to make it Normal.

General Physician, Fatehabad
My Heart Rate is always above 100 is it good or bad?
What can I do to make it Normal.
Hi lybrate-user, normal heart rate is between 60-100 per minute. So this is okay. Here are certain foods that regulate heartbeat and keep your heart in a healthy working condition. 1. Yogurt: Yogurt is capable of heart palpitations because it contains loads of Vitamin B 12. The rich reserves of Vitamin B 12 helps the nerve cells develop and thus strengthen the nervous system to handle stress. 2. Banana: Banana contains potassium in high amounts. Potassium is an electrolyte that is essential for the communication between your brain and heart. Therefore, bananas are foods that regulate heart beat. 3. Garlic: Garlic is universally accepted as heart healthy spice. The allicin present in garlic helps to to stop free-radical damage in the heart and gets rid of bad cholesterol. 4. Salt: High heart rate is not always your problem. Sometimes, even slow heart rate can be troublesome. Having salt or salty foods can help your slow heart rate stabilise. 5. Nuts: Nuts are filled with healthy mono-saturated fats that protect the heart from shocks and keep it well lubricated. 6. Raisins: The sodium potassium balance in the body is extremely important to maintain a healthy heart rate. Raisins are rich in essential potassium and low in sodium. Thus they are one of the best foods that regulate heart rate. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Hi lybrate-user, use Oils: olive, canola, safflower oil, sunflower oil (high mono- and poly- unsaturated fat) and Nuts and Seeds: walnuts, almonds, sunflower, cashew, peanut butter (mono- and poly-unsaturated fats; some saturated fats as well) in your diet. Other things you can do is: 1. Physical Activity - Regular cardiovascular activity has been shown to raise HDL cholesterol levels as well as lower LDL levels. Regular weight training will increase HDL levels as well, but has less of an effect on lowering LDL. The most drastic changes in levels happen in conjunction with regular exercise and healthy, LDL cholesterol lowering/HDL boosting diets. The combo leads to a change that is higher than just diet or exercise alone. 2. Calorie Restriction and Weight Loss - Research on calorie restriction has found that moderately restricting ones energy intake by 20% not only decreases your bodyweight, body fat and blood pressure, but also increases HDL levels in the blood. 3. Moderate Alcohol Consumption - Probably the most controversial, some research has found that moderate alcohol consumption may reduce your chances of heart disease by increasing your HDL cholesterol levels and prevent blood clots from forming. This seems to be most apparent in people over 50 years of age that already have high LDL numbers. Moderate alcohol consumption for men is 1 to 2 drinks per day, whereas women should drink even less; closer to .5 to 1.5 drinks per day. Everything in moderation; three or more drinks per day is actually associated with increasing your chances of heart disease. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Testosterone Levels - 4 Ways to Boost!

Testosterone Levels - 4 Ways to Boost!

Testosterone is the most important hormone that drives most of the male characteristics from their physique, stamina, energy, vigor, voice, to sexual performance. Higher the testosterone level, greater the masculine characteristics. It is no wonder then that most men want more testosterone flowing in their system. There are simple ways to increase testosterone flowing in your system; read on to know more.

  1. Eat more fat: While staying away from fat is the most common thing to do when body building, remember that testosterone is mainly made of cholesterol. So, a diet rich in fat directly translates to more testosterone. Mono-saturated and saturated fats are proven to be extremely beneficial for good testosterone production. Red meat, eggs, coconut oil, dark chocolate, cheese, peanut butter, fish, avocados, almonds, olive oil are all proven to be highly beneficial in improving testosterone levels.
  2. Include ingredients for testosterone: Include foods that are rich in zinc, vitamin D, D-aspartic acid, Di-indolyl-methane (DIM). Foods rich in zinc promote higher levels of testosterone production and so are advisable. Vitamin D is the most important vitamin in the production and availability of free testosterone in the body and is highly recommended for people wanting to have higher testosterone levels. D-aspartic acid is an amino acid that is essential for proper functioning of the neurotransmitters that control testosterone synthesis and release into the system.
  3. Modified gym routine: Contrary to what most people may think, long hours in the gym does not help you stay in better shape. Regular, drawn-out workouts with long rest periods and too many exercises aimed at building endurance are not necessarily good for testosterone levels. Optimal duration is about an hour, after which cortisol levels (stress hormones) go up and testosterone levels go down. Shorter rest periods between sets are also shown to be more effective. Also, there are specific exercises and workouts which are aimed at improving the testosterone levels. These workouts could be aimed at the legs, arms, back, chest, or shoulders. These moderate to high-intensity protocols stress large muscle masses, which stimulate testosterone production.
  4. Beat the stress: None of our lives are free of stress, but the trick lies in managing them well. Whether you have physical or mental stress, try and work on reducing it, by meditation, music, or any relaxation technique that works for you. Even cardio exercises, if not overdone, are a good way to relax. Try not to fatigue yourself during your workout. Have a well-balanced meal and a good sleep to manage stress better.

  2. Dairy Fat: The use of milk and yogurt as well as butter can actually be help in bringing the blood sugar levels down. It also shows up favourably on the lipoprotein markers. Butter, in particular is known to have clarifying properties that can bring down the risk of diabetes as well. One must take care to use dairy products that are fat free.
  3. Animal Fat: Having meat which releases fat and having dairy products like cheese and milk which releases healthy saturated fats are two different things. One can replace carbs and meat with these kinds of products so that there is better absorption and creation of quality animal fats which can actually help the insulin levels.
