This medication is a systemically active mucolytic agent and works by breaking down the structure of mucus in the lungs. It facilitates expectoration and relaxing the bronchial smooth muscles. The syrup treats acute and chronic respiratory diseases accompanied by elevated mucus production.

You should not take this drug if you are allergic to it. Exercise caution if you ever had Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Avoid the syrup if you have a liver disorder, kidney failure or stomach ulcers.
