Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. It is clear that your blood glucose levels are not well controlled. Ideally in a well controlled diabetes patient fbg should be < 100 mg or closer to 100 mg, pp should be 150 to 170 mg & hba1c% <6.5% up to the age of 60 years and above 60 years <7%. Therefore there is a need for immediate upgrade. So please come back with following details: serum creatinine, urea, lipid profile, bp readings and detailed dietary pattern. Our current bmi is 26.7 kgs/sq meter (normal < 23 kgs), considering your height and age ideal should be about 60 kgs. The extra weight also contributes to improper control of blood glucose as well as related problems. Therefore, please come back with all the necessary details in a private conversation (paid consultation) then I will be able to give specific guidelines and even prescribe necessary drugs if required. In this communication we are supposed to give only general guidelines. If you are not willing, then please do consult your local physician and see that proper control is achieved. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. Your glucose levels are very good, showing excellent control of blood glucose. It would have been better if you had mentioned the HbA1c%, that would have been really very good. Please understand the current good control is because of present treatment plus the lifestyle that you must have been maintaining. So making any change now in the drugs is really not warranted Ideally FBG should be < 100 mg *& PP should be around 150 to 170 mg.& HbA1c% < 6.5%. So please do continue the same treatment. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. However, either with Glycomet Trio or with Glitaray M edema is unlikely side effect. Only when Pioglitazone is taken there is a possibility of swelling of lower limbs possible. So I am a bit surprised o know that such a side effect is seen in you. Please check your BP and kidney function, because the cause for swelling could be different. There is no mention of how blood glucose is controlled. That is equally important. Thanks.

Follow diabetes diet which simply means eating the healthiest foods in moderate amounts and sticking to regular mealtimes. A diabetes diet is a healthy-eating plan that's naturally rich in nutrients and low in fat and calories. Key elements are fruits, vegetables and whole grains. U can take (moderate amount) grapes. Apples. Berries. Citrus fruits. Papaya. U should avoid sugar-sweetened beverages. Sugary beverages are the worst drink choice for someone with diabetes. Trans fats sugar, cake, pastries mithai/sweets chocolate fruits like mango, litchi etc. White bread, pasta fruit-flavored yogurt. Sweetened breakfast cereals. Flavored coffee drinks. Honey 1. Don't take tea empty stomach. Eat something like a banana (if you are not diabetic) or soaked almonds or any seasonal fruit. No only biscuits or rusk will not do. 2. Take your breakfast every day. Don't skip it. 3. Have light meals every 2 hours (in addition to your breakfast, lunch n dinner) e.g. Nariyal paani, chaach, a handful of dry fruits, a handful of peanuts, seasonal fruit, a cup of curd/milk etc 4. Finish your dinner at least 2 hours before going to sleep. 5. Maintain active life style 6. Avoid fast foods, spicy n fried foods 7.take a lot of green vegetables n fruit. 8. Drink lot of water. 9.curd is good for u. Exercise in the form of yoga, cycling, swimming, gymming, walking etc. Now about point no. 5. You should join a gym for weight training. Do it 2-3 times a week with at least 48 hours in between 2 sessions. For more details you can consult me.

Usha ji, Thanks for the query. Majority of the medications used in treating diabetes are quite safe. So you can use these without any worry. Since there is absolutely no information given about important things like fasting, PP glucose, HbA1c%, height, weight, extent of daily exercise and diet pattern, no further comment can be made. Thanks.

According to you, your father s is 190 cms tall, with fairly good control of blood sugar. His weight has come down from 62 to 58 in 6 months. If he is avoiding carb diet for the past few months, weight loss may be because of that. But anyway considering his age, it is better to go for some other tests too to rule out any other problem. Thyroid medication too needs dose adjustment.
