Procainamide is the generic form of a prescription medicine that's used to treat atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, and arrhythmia.The drug was once sold under the brand names Procan and Pronestyl. But these brands, along with oral forms of the medicine, are no longer available in the United States.Procainamide belongs to a class of drugs called anti-arrhythmics. It works by blocking certain electrical signals in the heart.
