About Pamidronate

Pamidronate is used for the treatment of bone metastases, lesions and other bone disorders caused by high levels of calcium in the blood or bone cancer. The drug helps to bring under control the levels of calcium, and protects against certain diseases like the Padget’s disease which causes the bones to turn weak or brittle, increasing the risk of easy fractures. The Pamidronate drug belongs to the biophosphonates family of drugs. It helps to reduce pain in the bones. The drug is injected intravenously. During the course of this treatment, it is important to remain hydrated and urinate frequently to keep the kidneys functioning smoothly. The dosage of this medicine is determined by the doctor according to a number of medical conditions. It depends upon the spread and stage of bone cancer or other bone diseases, and your response to the therapy.
