About Macugen 0.3Mg Infusion

Macugen 0.3Mg Infusion is used in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration, or age-related loss of vision in central spots, or blurred vision. It is administered in the form of intravitreal injections, i.e. injections into the vitreous humour of the eyes. A 0.3 mg dose is given once in 6 weeks.

Side effects of Macugen 0.3Mg Infusion include bleeding within the eye (conjunctival haemorrhage), eye infection, retinal damage, small spots in vision, marks on the surface of the eyes, inflammation, cataract, eye discharge, increase in intraocular pressure, eye irritation, eye pain, and hypertension. Rarely observed side effects include dizziness, headache, nausea, bronchitis, and urinary tract infections. However, no significant adverse effects have been noted in case of an overdosage.

Intravitreal injections typically tend to cause endopthalmitis, and one must be monitored for a week after every injection to check for, the occurrence of any infection in the eye, so as to provide early treatment. Intraocular pressure must also be monitored. Macugen 0.3Mg Infusion is contraindicated in patients with known ocular or periocular infections, and hypersensitivity and allergic reactions to it. Hence, you must inform your doctor if you have an allergic reaction to any of the components of Macugen 0.3Mg Infusion.

    This medication is used to stimulate the production of neutrophils. The drug achieves this by binding with G-CSF receptors and promoting its action. This, in turn, increases the rate of production of the neutrophils.
