About Glykind-M Tablet

This tablet is a combination of two and is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. This drug helps to control the blod sugar levels in the body. It activates the pancreas to secrete more insulin and also supports the body in utilizing insulin more effectively.

It is advised not to take this medication if you – are allergic to any of its ingredients; are breast feeding or pregnant; have an infection; affected by type 1 diabetes; have kidney or liver problems; have undergone surgery.

Do inform you doctor about other medications you are taking before starting a course of this tablet. This medicine also causes reactions like warmth, nausea and flushing if one consumes alcohol. It is also recommended to follow a proper diet alongside the medication.

      It is recommended to discontinue the medicine and contact your doctor immediately if an overdose is suspected. Symptoms like dizziness, confusion, increased heartbeat, tremor and sweating after taking the medicine should be reported immediately.

    How does this medication work?

    This tablet works via a dual mechanism and includes antidiabetic medicine Gliclazide and Metformin. This tablet is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Gliclazide is a sulfonylurea and increases the amount of insulin which is released by the pancreas so that the level of blood glucose decreases. Metformin is a biguanide it lowers the production of blood glucose level in the liver and also delays the absorption of glucose from the intestine and increases insulin sensitivity of the body.

      Whenever you take more than one medicine, or mix it with certain foods or beverages, you"re at risk of a drug interaction.

        Alcohol

        Consumption of alcohol is not recommended when you are taking this medicine. Do not perform activities that require mental alertness like operating heavy machinery or driving a vehicle. Inform the doctor if you experience any undesired effect.
      • Interaction with Medicine

        Miconazole

        This combination is not recommended as it leads to an increase in the concentration of this tablet. This may further cause hypoglycemic effects like dizziness, confusion, and weakness. Inform the doctor if you are receiving these medicines. An alternate medicine should be considered based on the clinical condition.

        Phenylbutazone

        This combination is not recommended as it leads to an increase in the concentration of the medicine, which may cause hypoglycemic effects like dizziness, confusion, weakness. Inform the doctor if you are receiving these medicines. An alternate medicine should be considered based on the clinical condition.

        Chlorpromazine

        The desired effect of this medicine may not be achieved if taken with chlorpromazine. This interaction is more likely to occur if a high dose of chlorpromazine is used. Frequent monitoring of blood glucose levels is necessary. Dose adjustment or an alternative treatment should be considered based on the clinical condition.

        Glucocorticoids

        The desired effect of this medicine may not be achieved if taken with glucocorticoids like prednisolone and methylprednisolone etc. This interaction is more likely to occur if glucocorticoids are taken for more than a week. Frequent monitoring of blood glucose levels and kidney function tests are necessary. Dose adjustment or an alternative treatment should be considered based on the clinical condition.
      • Interaction with Disease

        Hemolytic Anemia/G6Pd Deficiency

        This tablet is not recommended for use in people suffering from Hemolytic Anemia. Reporting this condition to the doctor is a must. In such cases, alternate medication not belonging to Sulfonylureas should be considered.

        Heart Diseases

        This medicine should be administered with extreme caution if you suffer from any disease of heart and blood vessels.
