About Galvus 50Mg Tablet

Galvus 50Mg Tablet is an oral medicine prescribed to patients suffering from type 2 diabetes. It is an anti-hyperglycaemic agent of DDP-4 class of drugs. Tests have shown that it helps hyperglycaemia in type 2 diabetes mellitus.

This medication is used to control diabetes; it is not a cure. Other components of treatment plan are important: follow prescribed diet, medication, and exercise regimen. Take exactly as directed; with meal(s) at the same time each day. Do not change dose or discontinue without consulting prescriber.

It is often prescribed with anti-diabetes medications such as metformin. Your doctor will inform you about the dosage and frequency as per your situation. Kindly follow the instruction as prescribed.

People who have liver problem should avoid taking Galvus 50Mg Tablet medicine. Also people with renal impairment or congestive heart failure should inform their healthcare provider before taking the medicine. Galvus 50Mg Tablet is a recently approved drug but no doubt has side effects too.

Common side effects noted during trials were headache, dizziness, constipation, cough, nasopharyngitis and sweating. Some of the studies also reported a feeling of hypertension amongst the patients. Galvus 50Mg Tablet can also lead to weight gain.

Avoid alcohol while taking this medication; could cause severe reaction. Inform prescriber of all other prescription or OTC medications you are taking; do not introduce new medication without consulting prescriber.

Do not take other medication within 2 hours of this medication unless so advised by prescriber. Maintain regular dietary intake and exercise routine and always carry quick source of sugar with you.

You may experience side effects during first weeks of therapy (headache, nausea); consult prescriber if these persist. Report severe or persistent side effects, extended vomiting or flu-like symptoms, skin rash, easy bruising or bleeding, or change in color of urine or stool.

        Alcohol consumption is not suggested during treatment with this medicine due to the increased risk of side effects.

        Concomitant use of this medicine must be avoided along with ACE inhibitors, thiazide-like diuretics, thyroid hormones, sulphonylureas, corticosteroids and sympathomimetic drugs.
      • Interaction with Disease

        Precautions must be taken in patients with severe hepatic disorders, type-1 diabetes, dialysis-dependent severe renal disorders and diabetic ketoacidosis.
