Dandruff: Embrassing, Isn't it?

Many of us have faced this situation once in life. Dandruff is a medical condition that can grab anyone no matter gender, age or race. While dandruff can be embarrassing at times, it usually doesn’t indicate any serious health condition or an unhygienic state. It is generally worsened in the winter and fall.

Quick tips:

  • Scrub your head will help in removing old skin flakes.
  • Wash your head with special shampoos having anti-fungal or anti-bacterial properties such as head, shoulders (contain zinc pyrithione that slows down the growth of yeast), neutrogena t/sal (has salicylic acid that lessens dandruff), neutrogena t/gel (has coal tar that slows down skin cells death) may help you.
  • Shampoos having ketoconazole, selenium sulfide, zinc pyrithione, coal tar, salicylic acids and tea-tree oil helps in impeding or eliminating dandruff.
  • Always read the instructions before using any shampoo to check if it's suitable for you and also see how often it should be applied.

I have prescribed my patients anti-dandruff arnica shampoo (homeopathic shampoo) and find its result notable.

  • Getting the perfect shampoo for your dandruff may take some experiment, so try these shampoos for a month to see if your dandruff improves. You might need to experiment with more than one shampoo to find one that suits your scalp.
  • Sometimes alternating two shampoo types may also help.
  • Leaving the shampoo in hair for at least two to three minutes before washing will help you much.
  • You may be able to use the shampoo less often once your dandruff improves.
  • Moisturize your scalp as dry scalp tends to flake more. Restoring moisture to the scalp can help you with itchiness. Coconut oil is a great pick from your dressing table as it has moisturizing as well as antibacterial properties.
  • Healthy diet is also a key to unlock your dandruff. Include more veggies and fruits in diet.

Jock Itch and Hair Growth Treatment: Connected?

Jock Itch and Hair Growth Treatment: Connected?

One of the more promising recent trends has been growing acceptance of bald heads as desirable. Many men now shave their heads because they and those around them perceive it as sexy. But there are still plenty of bald or balding men who take the opposite approach, using hair growth treatments to try to stimulate new growth. It's definitely a personal decision, but in some rare cases, opting for hair growth treatments may possibly bring about a minor penis health concern: jock itch.

Hair growth

There are many different kinds of hair growth treatments out there, but one of the most popular is the drug finasteride. Marketed under a number of brand names, finasteride was originally created as a treatment for enlarged prostates. However, it has also been approved for use in treating hair loss. According to Wikipedia, use of finasteride slows down hair loss and can improve hair retention by about 30% over a six-month period. So it's easy to see why men who are experiencing hair loss concerns may investigate finasteride as part of their hair growth plan.

Of course, just about every medication has some side effect or potential side effect, although exactly what that effect may be depends very much on the individual person. There have, however, been a few reports from individuals taking this medication that have subsequently developed jock itch.

These reports are not published in medical journals, so they haven't been scientifically verified. It may be that these people developed jock itch for reasons having nothing to do with their hair growth treatments. However, finasteride does seem to have some effect on hormone production, and hormones do seem to have an effect on fungal development (and jock itch is a fungus). But all this is very murky and unclear right now. Still, it's worth knowing so that a man who is using finasteride can keep an eye out for signs of jock itch and treat it properly if it does appear.

Jock itch

As mentioned, jock itch is a fungus, essentially a yeast infection. As the name implies, the primary characteristic is an itchiness which can be quite severe at times. Jock itch is not especially serious, but it can be very annoying.

Jock itch most often occurs in the groin area, including the thighs. It presents as a red, ring-shaped rash. The fungus thrives in warm, moist areas, so the penis and its environs are ideal for its growth. It is spread from person to person contact, or from coming into contact with surfaces or materials used by a person with the fungus. In men, jock itch is often spread by sharing towels or clothing. It is also a close cousin of athlete's foot, so treating athlete's foot can help prevent jock itch. Often a person may scratch his itchy foot and then scratch his groin, transferring the fungus in the process.

Over-the-counter treatments can help get rid of the fungus that causes jock itch. Other medications may help soothe the itching while the rash is still present.

Jock itch, whether there's a possible hair growth connection or not, is a major pain. It can be helpful to use a first rate penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) to help soothe the itchiness and keep the penis skin healthy and strong. It's best to find a crème that contains a combination of superior moisturizing agents, such as Shea butter (a high-end emollient) and vitamin E (a natural hydrator). Penis skin also needs protection from the oxidative stress that excess free radicals can cause. A crème with a potent antioxidant like alpha lipoic acid can be a big help in this area.

What Can Lead To Inflammation of The Vagina?

MBBS, DGO
Gynaecologist, Sirohi
What Can Lead To Inflammation of The Vagina?

Vaginitis is the inflammation of one’s vagina accompanied by pain during intercourse, mild vaginal bleeding, painful urination, vaginal itching or a considerable change in the amount, odor and color of the vaginal discharge.

Causes:
1. A certain level of bacteria is normally found in one’s vagina (lactobacilli). Now if this count is outnumbered by the other bacteria (anaerobes), the balance in the vagina gets disrupted giving rise to bacterial vaginosis. Such kind of vaginitis usually stems from sexual intercourse with multiple sex partners.
2. Yeast infections occur due to an overgrowth of fungal organisms in one’s vagina, especially Candida Albicans.
3. Trichomoniasis caused by the one celled microscopic parasite ‘Trichomonas Vaginalis’ generally spreads through sexual intercourse with an infected partner. The condition also makes one vulnerable to various sexually transmitted infections.
4. Spermicidal products, scented detergents, perfumed soaps, douches, vaginal sprays or foreign objects such as tampons that were not taken out or tissue paper might trigger allergic reactions or irritation in the vaginal tissues.
5. Surgical removal of the ovaries or reduced estrogen count after menopause might cause thinning of the vaginal lining, thereby resulting in vaginal burning, dryness or irritation.

Treatments:
1. For Bacterial vaginosis, your doctor might advise the application of clindamycin cream or metronidazole gel as well as metronidazole tablets which are to be taken orally.
2. Yeast infections might be treated with an anti-fungal suppository or cream, for instance, tioconazole, butoconazole, clotrimazole or miconazole. Oral medication, such as fluconazole is also administered to treat the same.
3. Metronidazole or tinidazole tablets are prescribed for Trichomoniasis.
4. Estrogen in the form of rings, tablets or vaginal creams is effective in treating low estrogen level after menopause.
5. For non-infectious vaginitis primarily caused by objects, such as tampons, sanitary napkins, laundry detergent or new soap, it is essential to pinpoint the source of the irritation and avoid them. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

The Most Important Ingredients in a Penis Health Creme

The Most Important Ingredients in a Penis Health Creme

The Most Important Ingredients in a Penis Health Creme

When it comes to keeping penis skin healthy, there are few things that matter more than choosing the right penis health crème. As part of a good daily penis care regimen, the proper crème does much more than simply make skin smooth and supple - though it certainly does that with aplomb! A penis health crème should include vital ingredients that not only improve the overall look of a man's package but also give him the boost he needs in other areas, such as odor control and blood flow.

Here's more about the top ingredients a man should look for in a penis health crème:

1) Shea butter. As a base for many creams and lotions, Shea butter is proven as an excellent emollient that locks in hydration and keeps skin as supple as possible. There's a reason so many beauty products for women contain Shea butter - because it works! It can work the same wonders on delicate penis skin as well.

2) Vitamin A. Also known as retinol, this is another ingredient found in many beauty products for women (and grooming products for men). It is known as a rejuvenator that helps alleviate wrinkles and age spots, as well as promote healing of minor irritations. But it is also a tough odor-fighter, attacking the bacteria that most commonly causes penis odor.

3) Vitamin B5. Part of the essential B vitamin family, this particular version of the B vitamin is great for maintaining the proper tone and elasticity of skin, as well as fighting infections. This bodes very well for those men who might have a minor irritation or raw spots after a night of particularly vigorous activity.

4) Vitamin C. Obviously this is great for fighting against colds, but what does it to do promote a healthy penis? A lot, it turns out. An important ingredient in collagen, vitamin C can help with the elasticity required for ample erections. It's also an integral part of proper blood flow, which is vital for getting things up when it's time for action.

5) Vitamin D3. Part of the essential vitamin D family, this one supports healthy cellular function throughout the body. It helps with the formation and repair of skin cells, which is why it's often found in healing products. It's also a great barrier against both fungal and bacterial infections.

6) Vitamin E. Known as a natural hydrator and found in numerous beauty and grooming products, vitamin E is a must. Some people even put it directly on their skin, undiluted by any other products, as a way to promote healing and make the skin look younger. In a good penis health crème, vitamin E locks in the natural moisture of the skin.

7) L-carnitine. This amino acid with the funny name is essential for proper function of the nerve cells. This is vitally important in a penis health crème, as the nerve endings of a healthy penis are what give a man so much pleasure from sexual activity. This ingredient not only helps protect those nerve endings, it also protects against infection.

8) L-arginine. Another strange name, this amino acid is what a man needs to ensure the best blood flow possible when it really counts. L-arginine works by creating the natural chemicals required to allow blood vessels to relax and open up. That means more blood can flow through the penis. Not only does this enhance erections, it also helps feed the tiny vessels just under the skin, which in turn feed the nerve endings and delicate skin cells.

9) Alphia lipoic acid. This powerful antioxidant fights against free radicals - that's a fancy way of saying that it battles against the signs of aging as well as other problems, such as cancerous cells. A healthy dose of this every day can go a long way toward keeping a penis looking and feeling young and healthy.
