About Aerocort Inhaler

Used in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease- COPD( which include shortness of breath, weezing apnea )and asthma. Generally used for the treatment of constricted airways, lung inflammation and other related conditions. It allows the smooth muscles in the bronchial tubes to relax, this helps by shortening or reversing an acute of shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing.

You should consult your doctor if you have any allergies or have pre-existing medical conditions, pregnancy, any upcoming surgeries and are hypertensive as they make you more susceptible to side effects from the drug. Being an inhaler it is generally given to patients above 4 years of age. Depending on the age and condition of the patient it can be given two to six times a day.

The medication is given by nebulization orally. The side effect commonly reported are tremors of hand, diarrhoea, an urge to vomit and hypokalaemia.

It works as a beta-2 androgenic receptor that results in the increase in increase of cyclic AMP, the increased AMP leads to the activation of the protein kinase A which again prevents phosphorylation of myosin, all this helps the muscles in the bronchial tubes to relax.
