About Stelbid 5 Mg/2 Mg Tablet

This tablet works vais dual mechanism and is used for the treatment of irritable bowel sydrome. It is a synthetic anti-cholinergic drug, which is used for treating peptic ulcer and other gastrointestinal disorders caused by hyperacidity and hypermotility. It is also used for the treatment of muscular contraction that causes pain, cold, gastritis, hyperchlorhydria, pylorospasm, acute nonspecific gastroenteritis, biliary dyskinesia, chronic cholelithiasis, inflammation of nasal membrane, duodenitis, depression and nausea.

Side effects noticed due to overdose of this tablet are dysphagia, thirst, blurred vision, dilated pupils, photophobia, fever, fast heartbeat, disorientation and dry mouth. Seek immediate medical attention in case of serious side effects.

    How does this medication work?

    This tablet works via a dual mechanism and includes medicine Isopropamide and Trifluoperazine. It is used for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome. Isopropamide is a quaternary anticholinergic drug that is used for treating peptic ulcer and gastrointestinal disorder. It prevents the parasympathetic nerve impulses by blocking certain neurotransmitter acetylcholine to its receptor in nerve cells. Trifluoperazine obstructs within the brain the postsynaptic mesolimbic dopaminergic D1 as well as D2 receptors. It slows down the release of hypophyseal and hypothalamic hormones. It depresses the reticular activating system.
