About Mondeslor Tablet

Mondeslor Tablet is commonly used in treating symptoms of allergy and hay fever such as red, itchy eyes, sneezing and runny nose. It is also used to treat the condition of hives.

Mondeslor Tablet belongs to a class of medications known as antihistamines. It functions by blocking a chemical substance in the body known as histamine, this substance is responsible for causing allergic symptoms in the body.

The same composition is also available in the form of tablets, liquids and orally disintegrating tablets. This medicine is generally taken once daily, with or without food. The dosage of this medicine should not be modified unless specifically instructed by the doctor.

There are certain precautions that need to be adhered to before taking the medication. You need to inform your doctor of the following conditions before taking the medication – allergic to any medications, problems in the liver or kidney, pregnancy or plans to become pregnant and whether you are taking dietary supplements or using herbal products.

In case you miss a dose, take it the moment you remember it unless this moment is very close to your next dose then skip it. It is strictly advised against taking multiple doses to make up for a missed dose.

Mondeslor Tablet may result in certain side effects in the body such as headaches, dizziness, an upset stomach, a dry mouth, tiredness and muscle pain. In case of women, they may experience painful menstruation. Breathing difficulties are also seen in some patients. It is advisable to consult a doctor if the symptoms turn serious.

Certain food items like grapefruit can interact with medication. Taking Mondeslor Tablet also increases one’s susceptibility to drowsiness from alcohol consumption. You may experience mild headache (mild analgesic may help); fatigue or dizziness (use caution when driving).

This medication is not for an acute asthmatic attack; in acute attack, follow instructions of a prescriber. Do not stop other asthma medication unless advised by a prescriber. Take every evening on a continuous basis; do not discontinue even if feeling better (this medication may help reduce the incidence of acute attacks).

    How does this medication work?

    This medicine selectively inhibits the peripheral H1 receptors thereby reducing the histamine levels in the body. It specifically acts on allergies caused in the skin, blood vessels and airways leading to the lung. It also act as leucotriene receptor antagonist and inhibit the action of leucotriene (another chemical neurotransmitter). Thus, altogether the medicine relieve the disease symptoms.

        This medicine is not indicated for use in the reversal of bronchospasm in acute asthma attacks, including status asthmaticus. Should not be used as monotherapy for the treatment and management of exercise-induced bronchospasm. Advise patients to have appropriate rescue medication available. Appropriate clinical monitoring and caution are recommended when systemic corticosteroid reduction is considered in patients receiving Mondeslor Tablet. Inform phenylketonuric patients that the chewable tablet contains phenylalanine 0.842 mg/5 mg chewable tablet.
