Swineflu is a viral infection affecting all the ages, perticularly children, elders and immunocompromised patients. Usual symptoms are cold, cough, fever and body pains, insome loose motions and vomittings. If these symptoms are associated with breathing difficulty then the patient requires hospitalisation. Most of the patients respond to anti flu medications, only few develop ards which may be fatal. Keeping away from large gatherings, frequent hand washing, taking adequate rest and liquids, covering nose with a mask and taking a flu shot are some of the important precautions to avoid swinflu infection.
